Okay, so like… I get that asking every single artist for permission would be incredibly difficult, and that it is kinda unrealistic to do this with every piece of fanart- But not giving credit?

There needs to be a lot of pushback on this decision.

Now, admittedly, the last posted date of this was about three years ago, so this could be something that's super old. But these guys need to know that the fans are the lifeblood of this whole thing. Without fans, there wouldn't be any RWBY. Because the fans are how you help this whole thing grow and gain more viewers. So if people end up finding out that the fan comic they made might get used without credit, it would devastate them. That artist may have ended up working in animation because of their passion, so to have the hard work be used without giving credit to the person who made it is horrible and scummy to the highest degree. Not even Disney stoops this low.

Honestly, I think that there's a good chunk of fan artists that would be more than happy to let RT use their work, as long as they get credited. But no. Apparently, they can't even get that.

FFS, why can't this damn company clear one lousy bar?

When I said stuff like “if the writers have grown, they have yet to show it” that applied to the company as a whole.

Recent news have proven that they have not moved past that frat mentality.

Except I’m pretty sure that frats are better at calling out homophobia, transphobia, and racism.

Progress is a moving vehicle. Making it past a few milestones is great and all, but the ride won’t (and quite frankly shouldn’t) stop. Maybe RT would have been progressive in the 80s, the early 2000s if I’m being generous. But it’s the 2020s. What they've got isn't going to cut it anymore.

There were times when I would turn on one of their videos because it made me laugh and would cheer me up. But those days are gone. And there are new people, new content creators, and new videos that I can watch to get cheered up by.

It’s ultimately up to you as to whether or not you continue your support of the company. Whether that’s because there’s one specific division that you want to support, or because you believe that they can genuinely change is up in the air and I won’t judge you for that choice or the reasons. I’d be a hypocrite otherwise, I only have First solely for DEATH BATTLE. You can bet that if they moved to their own platform or to YouTube, that I’d cancel my own First membership in a heartbeat.

This sort of thing is going to hurt, and at the end of the day, it won’t be solved on Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Facebook, or on Discord. How you choose to handle that hurt will be different from other people.

This is going to end in one of two ways: it will either be forgotten. Or it will be remembered. And which one you choose is up to you.

That choice is the only thing I will judge you on.

Until then, support Kdin, Matt, and all the people that this company screwed over and harassed on their Twitch, YouTube, or other platforms. If the company won’t show them love, prove that you can.

In addition, Kdin has chosen to continue support because she enjoys RWBY, and the people that she got to help make it with.

But, at the end of the day, they’re still a company. And companies want money. No company is your friend.

I can’t wait for the next Volume of RWBY to premiere so that everyone who was angry about all the new stuff that was just revealed about roosterteeth will be brushed under the rug because “The frat house company just released new volume of show people fawn over.”

I’m hoping that this leads to them actually changing and the fans actually demanding change instead of platitudes and the action show being rushed out. Because this isn’t something that can be traced to Warner.

I feel bad about the people who have a FIRST subscription solely for one of their other subsidies like AH or Death Battle. Having to support a bunch of assholes because you want to support a specific group of people must suck.

Off of Roosterteeth’s own logic of “Fighting back against your abusers makes you evil” (See: Adam, Cinder, Salem, and the WF in general), then this means that every single hunter is also irredeemably evil because sure, the grimm were abusing and killing them, but because the hunters decided to fight back and kill them, then they are fighting back.

Which, by RT’s own logic of “Fighting people who made your life a living hell makes you definitively evil with very little redeeming qualities”, that makes every single huntsman and huntress irrefutably evil as well. And Blake is double evil because she killed Adam, who abused her. And since Adam was evil for killing a bunch of racists who BRANDED HIM, that means that Blake is just as evil.

Fucking christ, this is what happens when your “Research” into the subject of racism extends only to some white Karen’s blog about how “good minorities” should act. Hell, given what happened in their own offices, maybe this is how they felt that minorities in their own employ should have acted when confronted with racist jokes and remarks.

Starting to get a bit sick of the longform analysts who figure RWBY haven't taken enough 'question everything then question ur question' cues from Raven *or* forged enough of their own path from Oz's agenda yet. I mean, both are an uphill work in progress given their circumstances. Bold to assume any of this gets even close to resolved before the show totally croaks, I know.

That's an issue. The characters really seemed to be on set to take the same path (and to make the same mistakes) as Oz. The show is feeling like its on its last legs due to RT going under and losing a lot of what made the show feel like a passion project.

If anything, they can have a comic continuation, but after that… I don't think there would be enough to really make a call on how to do all of that.

Honestly, the show has issues, and there were so many horrible decisions going on behind the scenes that it makes wanting to see it succeed difficult.

At the end of the day, both the show and the company will be examples of how to NOT handle things. For a show, for a company, and for staff.

At this point my extremely petty dream for RWBY future is that some other company buys the rights and proceeds to make a better version of it while giving a metaphorical middle fingee to RT's main writers.

That's fair.
