a lot of rtc fans aren't general theatre fans/theatre kids and it Shows. especially with the treatment of lowell high school. like making fun of these clearly young actors for .. doing poorly in a production is mean. as someone who loves all aspects of theatre, i would hate it if someone posted me forgetting a line on tiktok for the entire world to see or something equally as embarrassing. but messing up lines and being off key and microphones failing and slipping out of character, that's all a part of live theatre and they're parts of live theatre i've grown to love because of how unique to the form of entertainment they are. and a lot of the criticisms to be had with productions like lowell or the initial illegal high school production of rtc should be aimed at the directors, not the young actors who have little to no say in what they're performing

i think the reason why rtc tiktok is so awful to small productions is bc the fandom treats every small production like an extention of the original. i have NEVER seen another musical fandom talking so much about local theatres and highschools. absolutely love the fact that there is an archive because i think all live theatre should be archived, but there being a fandom around random local theatres is where there's a problem. like the obsession over the rvj production on tiktokis so weird to me- theyre just performing, theyre not trying to be famous? do other big musicals (like newsies or les miserables) fans know of every single production thats ever happened, even down to highschools, and post about them like theyre the original?

I know someone has kinda already said this, but I HATE when songs from musicals blow up on tiktok, especially Ride The cyclone songs. I've seen fall faire suite, what the world needs, Noel's lament, and the ballad of jane doe on tiktok, without the creator knowing a thing about ride the cyclone. It's just so annoying to me! I get its a good song, but like why make an random edit about your dog dying while fsll fair suite plays in the background"how can this be faaaiirrr" or a random clown makeup transition with Noel's lament. Okay thank you.

Being a newer fan is so embarrassing, the only content we have access to is the 2016 slime on yt, the cast album, and a few more slimes scattered across the internet. Of course we’re going to love the 2016 version when it’s one of the only ones available to some of us. Of course we’ll love Majestic Rep because it’s one of the only ones available to us. Yes, some of us will like Gus Halper and Alex Wyse because they were the first and often the only people we saw playing Mischa/Ricky. I love Chaz’s and Scott’s voices but some newer fans will prefer the 2016 cast and that’s okay. I wish some people would back off a little (and don’t get me started on RTCtok, we shouldn’t be compared to the freaks on there sexualising the actors just because we like them a bit more).

the rtc tiktok accounts whos whole bit is spamming the comment section just being like "noelgrubersleftpinkytoe: commenting on every single rtc tikok #23872" piss me off so bad 😭 or when they just comment their username in every fucking video. it was fine when there were like two of them. but more people kept trying to do it because it became like a bit and now there are like TONS and they are the only thing in any comment section i find..
