Carl’s cries were almost like white noise, but the sound of his voice was enough to send Rick spiralling. Arms weighed heavily around him, and he gave a hoarse yell in protest. Though his throat still seethed, his fists still clenched, desperate for action, desperate for anything to be done so long as it involved their blood.
Reason had been thrown completely out of the window, and with his heart pounding rapidly against his ribcage, Rick spun around. His throat, his throat. Without much thought other than that, Rick’s teeth sank harshly into the other man’s throat. The tearing of skin, the heavy flow of blood, and the muscles tearing was all that registered to him, then. It hurt, of course it had to hurt, and that was all that mattered to Rick.
He gnawed for a few moments, determined to hear that final wheeze of air, a desperate clutch at life that the other didn’t deserve, before he yanked back, severed throat clenched between pearly whites, now stained in red. Joe gradually fell limp in Rick’s grip, though he quickly caught on to a gun. He also caught on to the presence of a third man.
He still wanted to see the life leave his eyes, but perhaps not quite in the way of Joe’s demise.
There was no time for that. Instead, Rick aimed, hand heavy. He shot right at the third man, holstering the gun almost too casually a moment later. He then spat, effectively emptying his mouth, before his eyes settled on Dan, bleary, and yet determined.
