I've already watched the VOD of Scorpy playing the Stooges game(s) more than I can count, and I got curious about the inspiration for a couple of the minigames therein. Seeing how a lot of the spritework looked like it was lifted right from screenshots of the shorts, I figured there could be a little more context than what the game(s) cut out. As luck would have it, I was able to find some episode names!
Firstly, the hugely confusing minigame where you play as Larry while Curly is in a boxing match is based on what seems to be a fan-favorite, [Punch Drunks]. I watched through the whole episode, and it's honestly really funny at some parts! I even found this episode in full-color (colorized posthumously, the shorts were presented in black-and-white at the height of their popularity)!
And then minigame where Curly's eating crackers out of an oyster soup is inspired by a scene in [Dutiful But Dumb]; this is just a link to the isolated scene, since the plot of the rest of the episode isn't relevant (the full episode is on YT as well). The episodes don't have continuity with eachother, but the videogame changed around some details to unify all the minigames under one plot.
I know this is some weapons-grade nerd shit, but I wanted to share my findings anyhow. I have yet to catch a Scorpy stream live, but I love the VODs so much that I wanted to interact however I could. If Scorpy finds this post, or if someone sends it to him, tell him I said hi!
