Rubble Hat
Hello. Sooner or later, practically every knitter is faced with making something for a person who rejects most colors and textures. With that in mind, I designed my Rubble Hat.
It offers a quarter-inch / .6 cm edge in a contrasting color, maybe the last few yards of your favorite or special yarn. With or without color, the tubular cast-on is a nice feature. The pattern stitch is enough to engage a knitter without being too elaborate. And, the crown decreases fit the curve of the head so that the hat fits comfortably the first time it’s worn.
I believe in being able to knit the yarn you have wherever possible, so my pattern includes charts and instructions to knit the same size Rubble Hat in worsted, DK, sport, and fingering weight yarn. The Rubble Hat fits heads up to 23 in / 58 cm around, but you can knit a smaller size hat by choosing a lighter weight yarn and knitting the heavier weight instructions.
Thanks for watching.
If you don’t need a full-fledged winter hat, my lightweight Rubble Hat comes in quite handy when you’re not quite cold but not quite warm.
