A Pile of Hats

Most of the fourteen ribbed caps in this pile reflect changes I made for the fit and aesthetic I wanted. The rest are steps along the way, each one nice enough but not quite what I was aiming for.

My designs are usually things I can't find. It might be a matter of size, yarn weight, or practicality. Sometimes I wander into surprising projects like jockstraps without elastic, a counterweight basket, and a knitted balloon dog.

It’s a little cooler here in Hilton Head than I expected so I decided to cozy up inside with this new beanie! I was worried that it’d be too simple or that someone would feel it’s too similar to someone else’s but after many swatches, needles changes, frogging I’ve crafted a fitted beanie that I’m really proud of. With a couple of minor changes, I’ll have a new spring beanie! Although the journey was frustrating it’s so exciting to see a creation come to life.
