I offer an AshVen idea!

So you know Ashveil takes inspiration from Don Quixiote, a main character from the Spanish novel Don Quixiote of la Mancha? And in that novel, Don Quixiote is a man obsessed with romantic stories of knight errants who starts believing he's one such knight. The whole novel is about him getting into misadventures because of those daydreams.

As part of being that 'knight', he imagines he has a lady love named Dulcinea who he describes as a great beauty.

Okay, with this in mind! There's a musical based on the novel called 'Man of La Mancha'. And that musical has a song called 'Dulcinea' where he sings of this imagined lady love.

Now, based on the idea I gave you about AshVen having potentially met in the past, with one person having a crush on them and remembering while the other forgot them— I have a twist on this idea.

What if Ashveil remembered there was this lovely lady he adored but can't remember her name or her too clearly— But he has an image and an idea of her. And the song 'Dulcinea' is him trying to express that.

OR OR!!

Young Ashveil in his La Mancha days meets her and absolutely falls for her, but knows next to nothing about him and 'Dulcinea' is him singing about this mysterious, beautiful woman who has bewitched him.

ouhh scarlett i love ur brain worms so much.. i especially adore this because i have actually been meaning to get back into reading for some time and don quixiote is one of the novels I wanted to read !! I actually dk much abt it it just always seemed interesting LOL

I LOVE both ideas so much.. and actually both ideas could (separately) work out almost perfectly within their story !! i say almost because yesterday i was discussing potential ashven lore with jaz about their past, and was thinking about how they'd be somewhat friends but it's more ashveil who's formed a bond (and crush) while raven is still warming up to him, before smth happening that breaks them apart. I always imagined ashveil being the one to remember raven, as i remember seeing someone mention (not sure if this is canon or made up, i need to catch up on my ashveil stuff..i used to be so on top of it SOBS but i love this regardless) that one reason for his long amounts of sleep would be an escape to dream of the people he's lost, so considering his past love for raven he'd probably remember her due to that, while raven forgets him due to the fact that she's so heavily focused on her goal of her loved ones to think too much of people 'on the side'. so honestly, both of them could work LOL if i change their story so they never fully bond and its more passing for youngveil+ven or that overtime the name simply fizzled out but the face stayed for olderveil..it just depends on the timeframe...i need more of ur brain worms right now !! ack ashven lore is hurting my brain..i don't think it helps that i've not been in the ashveil lore loop in like 2 months now compared to when he first came out and i was writing PARAGRAPHS of analysis about him to jaz..

BOO karmor design update

notes + stuff below

karmor's scars pretty much stayed the same i just changed the top scars on his chest and revoked his face privileges he's now just an eye and a mouth thats only visible when opened or turned to the side

and i really leaned into the sky cotl elements (mostly bc ive been replaying it again lately and i LOVE IT happy 6th anniversary skykids) bc i rlly like the cape=wings and i wanted to include a bird-ish motif. i had the fun idea that karmor would kinda have a pallette similar to a hawk or a barn owl (mostly owl) since those are the natural enemies of crows+ravens (as the notes say) and for kayne he'll probably have a falcon-hawk feel when i properly design him bc these guys HAAATEEE crow they are his #1 haters if nobody hates crow then theyre dead lmfao

also more abt karmor's childhood:

- he grew up with 'older' stuff bc both him and kayne were literally living paycheck to paycheck since only kayne could work (karmor did become that kid in school who'd figure out how to sell shit on the playground bc he wanted to help but after getting busted for the 3rd time kayne finally talked to him abt it)

- but bc he grew up with human things whenever the kids find 'ancient human artifacts' and its just shit he recognizes from his childhood he has a miniature stroke because its like getting called old by five year olds but so much worse because yeah, by springrock-space-pirate-cowboy-robot-fuck-future standards, those are artifacts. its awful for his mental state and i think its hilarious

- also when he was little he had a little "emo" phase (he wasnt actually emo, he was emulating kayne's friends)

- because kayne was working so much, his brother had very little freetime and didn't hang out that much when karmor was in elementary-middle school. but sometimes his friends would come over, and karmor would try to weasel his way into their hangouts so he could spend some time with them and his brother by extension. but after a stressful shift kayne just wants to go out and get high with his friends but he can't bring his little brother along (he doesnt trust them around him) so when karmor starts to argue that he wants to go, kayne just yells at him. like genuinely yells at him. not the yelling during playfights or video games, but the actually upset kind of yelling.

- karmor goes quiet, and kayne doesnt really think that anythings wrong. just something that kids do when they get told no and finally take it for an answer. he feels bad about it yeah, but he sorta forgets about it once he leaves for the hangout.

- but when karmor starts isolating himself and changing how he dresses and even secretly went to hang out with one of kayne's buddies just to become more 'mature,' kayne has an 'oh shit' moment and immediately tries to fix things

- of course the wound is still there, but once karmor's a freshman they finally get close again (kayne ends up ditching most of his old group, jumping ship with like maybe two other friends because after the shit that happened with his brother and things they pulled on him, he wasnt staying)

- also when karmor realized he was trans his first ever short haircut was butchered bc he went to a cheap hair place where the hairdresser somehow misinterpreted him wanting a 'wolf cut' as having a bob

- so kayne tried fixing it but he did not succeed so he cut his hair too so karmor wouldnt feel alone and they could be embarrassed about it together
