Hello there! Long time no see. :-D Yeah.. you know... summer time!!! Sun, beach, sand and good mood. “Just get out there!” our brain says.
Aaannnd it is July!! The time of raspberries! Mmmhh yummy! Ok... the season of raspberries is a bit longer: from may to the mid of august.
So we went outside and collected some of these beautiful red berries. We love them! Even more then strawberries... but psst! Don't tell them! We made a really tasty breakfast with them: Grits with raspberries and cocoa.
The latin name of raspberries is Rubus idaeus. Yeah that's about right...little rubies. Raspberries belong to the rose family and were originally resident in the deciduous forests of central and northern Europe and North America.
Raspberries are known since the Neolithic period. It is said that Ötzi nourished himself also through collecting berries.
They are rich in potassium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and iron. Because they also contain a quite high amount of vitamin C the human body can process the iron more efficiently.
