A Kids Guide To Changing Gear, By Ruby Isaac Aged 8 - YouTube
Don’t Cha!
I was able to bike-roller pedal my way through the entire song, a whole 4 minutes, progress!!
Rolling rolling rolling
Most cyclists train on a smart trainer, where resistance training is an option. That’s coz most cyclists can keep their balance on rollers, they have a better handle on good form. Either that or they fall off too often and get nowhere.
It takes only 2 minutes (or less) to get my heart rate way up. When I get off, my arms hurt and it’s not from smashing against the door frame. It truly takes a lot out of you physically and mentally to stay on.
Today I clipped myself in and did not wipe out! My core was straining to stay still and my legs were trying to pedal as smoothly as possible. As I got more and more tired, that became an impossible task. I found myself pushing with my torso and not driving from my hips and legs. That made the bike swerve which then reminded me to isolate my hips and legs. Towards the end of 10 mins, I just could not avoid the swerving at all. I try to last 3 songs, by the 3rd, my legs feel like jello. This sucks right up there with my early swim sessions!
Patience and just taking another whack at it was how I slowly conquered my fear of the deep end of the pool and it will be how I get over these damn rollers! By the end of winter, I’m sure my legs and torso will thank me for it.
