It was so close to closing, Ruby could taste it. Just itching to lock up and go home, she bounced her leg under the desk. It wasn’t really that she disliked working at the florist, she just didn’t really care. It’d been a long day (or rather a series of long days) and she just wanted to go home.
It was 8:55, just five minutes until closing, when the sound of a bell brought Ruby out of her zoned-out trance. A tall man, probably around seventeen or eighteen, with dark hair and sunken eyes had entered the shop. He looked around the shop for just a minute before tentatively approaching the desk.
“You, uh, got any poppies?”
“Poppies?”
“Yeah.”
“I…I think we do. Let me check.”
As Ruby got up from the desk and looked around the store for the flowers, the customer spoke again.
“You probably think I’m some creep, don’t you?”
Ruby turned towards him. “Why would I think that?”
The man shrugged, shifting his gaze around the room. “You know, poppies.” Ruby must’ve looked confused at his remark, because he continued. “Poppies represent like, death. And sleep and peace, but notably death.”
The florist looked up at him again. “I would not have known that if you didn’t tell me. Maybe you should be a florist instead of me.”
The customer laughed. “Maybe in another life.”
Upon preparing the bouquet of poppies, she handed the dark haired man the flowers.
“How much?”
Ruby smiled slightly. “Consider it payment for the floral lesson.”
The customer furrowed his eyebrows. “Oh, okay. Well, thanks.”

Ruby has really hard time making friends, and to be honest, the only reason she hung out with the whole squad was because she was Zelda's roommate.
She has really bad lungs from her habit of smoking cigarettes. She coughs a lot, but she doesn't have any drive to quit. She likes the feeling of smoking.
She has really thin and brittle hair. She's also very weak and gets sick really easily.
She's that kind of girl that you see hanging out at all the parties, but not really doing anything. Or sitting on the couch in silence as some douchebag attempts to flirt with her.
She gets headaches a lot from the spirits that talk to her.
Ruby actually had a crush on Zelda for a while. She never told her about it. She's probably the only person Ruby ever had a crush on before Edgar. Ruby barely ever feels romantic attraction to people, but she really had deep feelings for Zelda.
As a kid, she was studied a lot by psychologists because she was the strangest and youngest case of "schizophrenia." It was very weird because she showed some symptoms of schizophrenia (her auditory cortex lighting up), but they couldn't find any chemical imbalances. Eventually, the psychology industry lost interest and gave up, but there were quiet a few studies on her when she was around seven or eight.

Special Talents: Very good at building things and inventing weird devices, like her dad. Can form wood to her liking, like she can roll and bend organic material with her hands like clay (from Demeter), dorky ass glasses

Personal Head canon: Trent had a lot of trouble with Daniel coming out and he and Rosie fought about it a lot. It took him a while, but eventually he came to terms with it, although Daniel and Trent still don't have a very good relationship. Daniel and Bella have a strained relationship as well, but he and his mom are very close.
