Ruby runs Purgatory for a Day
"Dad, why are we doing this again? I mean, I know you want me to be a better being, but-" I'm cut off by Dad, with a smile and a stack of files.
"Ruby, this is the best way to figure out if you have my Sinsight."
"And what is Sinsight again?"
"Well, it's the ability to not only read someone's sins, but the ability to determine whether they were good enough for Heaven or bad enough for Hell. As demons, we are the ones who can determine this and ensure that the worst are kept from harming others."
"Oh. Okay. So I have to figure out whether or not someone isn't shitty?" We arrive at a desk where there's a line of people. A lot are grumbling about bills or sex, while some seem genuinely happy to be here. The desk itself has three buttons and a nice chair. The buttons must send someone to Heaven, Hell, or the second layer of Purgatory. And wouldn't you know, an Irishman is up first. I sit down, and he swings around the desk to my side.
"Sorry! Yer dad asked me to come down to explain how this works. I've played a lot of Papers, Please; so I know how to work the system." .... Is this the legendary Jacksepticeye? When he does die, Dad's gonna recruit him to run Purgatory. I hope he'll enjoy a life of that game. Or, rather, an eternity.
"You'll do great, sweetie." Dad calls out as he leaves, and Sean grins.
"It looks like three now, but there will be a lot of buttons you can access. For example..." He reads the file in front of us, and I glance at the woman who's smirking. Hell, then?
"DETAINED!" He hits a button under the desk, and I jump as demons swoop in to drag her away.
"Why did you detain her!?"
"She was gonna attack you with holy water. Didn't you see the flask?" Oh. This is gonna be a looooooooong day.
