RUBY- “Morgan Ebeneezer Asher!!  What on earth have you done now that has caused the police to get involved!!?’

MORGAN- “None of this was my fault mom, this cop had to be an ass and just bring us in here for no reason. Cyrus and I were just minding our own business and fishing.”

RUBY- “I told you to stay away from that Boedell boy, he is NOTHING but trouble Morgan!!  I swear when your dad gets back into town---

ABRAHAM- “See Cyrus!?  Everyone in this town knows that you are trouble!!  I think you need to apologize to Sgt. Dawes, and to Mrs. Asher, and before we go home, we are stopping by Mr. Shiplet’s so you can apologize to him as well for causing all this unnecessary chaos today.”

CYRUS- “Can we just go now?”

ABRAHAM- “I said you need to apologize...first to Sgt. Dawes...

CYRUS- “Sorry Sargent. It won’t happen again.  Now can we just go?”

ABRAHAM- “To Mrs. Asher???”

Dr. MARTIN- “Ms. Asher, I am Dr. Martin, Chief of Surgery here...I am very sorry, but we were not able to save Morgan. We couldn’t stop the bleeding and too much damage was done.  We are so sorry, we did all we could.”

RUBY- “You mean--- my baby---Oh my, you mean he is dead!??”

DR. MARTIN- “Yes, mam, there was just too much damage of main arteries and blood loss. 

RUBY- “What am I going to tell his father!!? He is in Japan for work...Oh dear Lord..”

Ruby was overtaken and passed out, Sgt. Dawes was able to catch her before she hit the floor.

DR. MARTIN- “Nurse, I will stay here with Ms. Asher. You can take Sgt. Dawes to check on the Boedell boy.”

SGT. DAWES - “Is there an update on Ms. Asher’s son?”

RUBY- “Please I want to see my boy!!”

NURSE- “I am sorry, I have nothing at the moment. I can call into surgery and see if one of the attending doctors can come out and talk to you.”

RUBY- “Oh...yes!! Please... I need to know something.”

NURSE- “Sure Ms. Asher, I will call over immediately.  Also, Sgt. the Boedell boys fathers are at the nurses station.”

SGT. DAWES- “Thank you nurse.”

RUBY- “I don’t understand...why would someone want to shoot Morgan!!??”

SGT. DAWES- “We are not sure of anything yet, Ms. Asher. But an eyewitness said that the assailant was aiming for Cyrus Boedell and your son jumped in front of him. From what we know so far, there were two shots fired, and both boys were shot.”

RUBY-  “I still don’t understand...Morgan is only fifteen years old, and the Boedell boy is about the same age, who would want to shoot two kids!!?”

SGT. DAWES- - “Again, we are not sure, but my Sgt. has the assailant in custody. Of course he has lawyered up, but the eyewitness has identified him as the gunman.”

RUBY-  “Who is he?”

SGT. DAWES- - “I can’t release the name yet, but he was an older guy, about 25 or so.”

RUBY- “And the witness?”

SGT. DAWES- - “She is a minor, and again I can not release her name, but she is also a student at Boedell Academy. So probably a friend of the boys.”

RUBY-  “How much longer is Morgan going to be in surgery!!???

SGT. DAWES- -  “Let me get the nurse, maybe she knows something.”
