Dang someone already asked about Shorter, VicYu and Eiji lol XDDD for the ask: Phichit/Yuuri (can't recall their ship name at moment lmaooo), and Ash?

YESSS THANK YOU SO MUCH~!!!! Gonna split these up too bc apparently I always have too many HCs and talk too much ^ ^; So the ship first!

When I started shipping it if I did:

Oh gosh. I was already super interested in Phichit from promo material alone before YOI aired bc he’s freakin’ adorable and also you don’t see many Thai characters so I was really interested? And the first time we see him in the anime is this tiny lil glimpse of him going “Yuuri!!” with happiness at seeing his video and I was like oh shit they’re friends, and then they have the skype chat and I’m like OH SHIT THEY’RE FRIENDS AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES, and they he turns up in Beijing and I’m like FUCK.

I’m a HUGE sucker for long term BFF relationships, friendly social types, and smart capable people, and the fact that he was Yuuri’s friend when he’s so hard to approach…yeah i fell HARD ahAHAHAHAHAH

I actually drew my first PhichiYuu comic VERY early on in my YOI art career which helped me process why I like them so much, and it’s honestly been one of my bias ships since Cup of China aired ^ ^;

My thoughts:

SO GOOD SO GOOD SO GOOD???? Defs one of my bias 2-people OTPs in YOI <3

What makes me happy about them:

A long-term mutually supportive and understanding friendship. Phichit’s Yuuri’s ONLY international skater friend prior to the canon timeline, and Yuuri’s clearly super special to Phichit too. I see Phichit as the type of person who would do anything for Yuuri and is fiercely protective of him, even if he doesn’t flaunt it, and he’ll always be protecting Yuuri from the shadows. Yuuri in turn understands all of Phichit’s hopes and dreams better than anyone, and knows how to encourage them.

I ship them SO dang much specifically BECAUSE they don’t need to be romantic at all to mean the world to each other.

What makes me sad about them:

When I think about how rough it must have been when Yuuri got depressed, and how absolutely heart broken Phichit must have been after Yuuri left Detroit to return to Hasetsu, and the very complicated mix of emotions that must have been going through at least Phichit up until he saw Yuuri in Beijing. Not gonna go into it in depth here, but I wrote a whole HC post describing how I personally headcanon pre-canon Yuuri & Phichit, and how Phichit probably also left Detroit to return to Bangkok after Yuuri left because he couldn’t stand to stay there….

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

When the importance of their bond, regardless of how you interpret it, is glossed over or brushed under that of other characters. *coughs*

Also I guess when Phichit’s portrayed as super vapid, since it clashes so much with my personal HC that he’s a freakin’ genius ^ ^;

Things I look for in fanfic:

When they very clearly care for and support each other, and when Yuuri goes to Phichit for advice, and more rare, but when Yuuri also supports Phichit in some way.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

I mean, strongly, STRONGLY prefer each other, but Yuuri, any of the Future!Verse husbands, and Phichit…idk, maybe Seung-Gil? I wouldn’t be too interested personally ^ ^;;

My happily ever after for them:

To be self-promotional AGAIN, Future!Verse lmao. I’ve crammed a TON of my ideal PhichiYuu into that, as well as my personal ideal happily ever after for just Phichit and Yuuri as individuals too. Of course I want them to get together, but also while supporting their separate goals. For Phichit, I honestly see him as one of the characters with the strongest vision and most dreams outside of his immediate short-term professional skating career, and I just really, REALLY want to see him going to big places and not just as a skater. I could rant on about that forever but I’ll just link lil visual list thing here AHAHAHAHAH

Who is the big spoon/little spoon:

If we’re taking this literally and not just a metaphor for topping/bottoming, then absolutely switch ;D Phichit likes trying to Big Spoon but in his case it turns into Jet Packing AHAHAHAHHA and Phichit is petite and I feel would be very comfy for Yuuri to big spoon for once and he’s happy to be lil spoon ^ ^

What is their favorite non-sexual activity:

Gosh I would honestly say anything? Phichit loves traveling and touristing with Yuuri, loves taking selfies with Yuuri, loves practice, loves shopping, loves partying, loves watching movies, loves studying, loves cooking and eating with Yuuri, literally anything.

But I think what makes them both the happiest are those quiet late night private convos, where they might talk about deeply personal things, or just anything silly that happened during the day. It reminds them of college roomie days, and I love imagining them decades down the line still doing the same thing <3

Awww yis, they do ;A; Yasha and Arisa can more than take care of themselves in most situations, and Shura could to if he wasn’t fretting about something all the time but he is, and Yuuji grows up assuming everyone’s his friend bc half the world seems set on protecting him so he has zero defense mechanisms…-.-;;

I think that he maybe didn’t have much time for actual schoolwork when he was a teen but he liked to make the effort to read and learn about things in his personal time? especially when he got older. I can just see him as someone who really enjoys reading

How I feel about this character:

I LOVE??? THIS BOY???? SO MUCH?????? He’s so ridiculously good, while being such a sassy brat, while being RIDICULOUSLY STRONG AND DEPENDABLE, with amazing leadership and maturity when he needs it, all while going through so many unimaginably awful, painful things. He has every right to hate Ash and distrust him but he DOESN’T. He doesn’t need to help Eiji, there’s no benefit to him, not really, but HE DOES.

Tbh by the end of the series, I honestly think he gets the most awful shit thrown at him and HE DOESN’T FREAKIN’ DESERVE ANY OF IT, LEGIT NONE OF IT WAS HIS FAULT, STOP TREATING HIM LIKE THIS???

ALSO SCREAMS I’M A HUGE SUCKER FOR TEENY TEENS WHO TURN INTO HUNKS AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH RIP

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Like honestly I love their genuinely supportive relationship in main canon. I love how Sing keeps helping Eiji, and how Eiji empathizes with him and tells him about Shorter. I love how Sing’s the friend Eiji needs when Ash can’t be there.

But Sing and Eiji in Garden of Light...FREAKIN’ SHOOT ME

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

ACTUALLY have a lot, I think Shorter, Yut-Lung, and Ash would all be fantastic non-romantic OTPs!

Sing and Shorter, I love imagining their past and how such a freakin’ good role model and big bro Shorter must have been to Sing. I love how they both try to be the best people they can, because of the other. In the future in a happier world, I wanted Shorter to tell Sing how proud he is of the man he’s become, and I wanted them to rule Chinatown together as partners sobs

Yut-Lung, because Sing is exactly the kind of genuine friend he needs, who doesn’t hate him like he assumes most of the world does, but who also isn’t afraid to openly disagree and sass him. LOVED their dynamic in Ep 19, and (non-plot essential spoilers) I think Yut makes a great choice in making Sing his brother.

Ash, it’s complicated. From Sing’s side, there’s so much admiration and respect, in ways that are different from how he felt towards Shorter. A lot of what makes me fascinated about their relationship is post canon/Garden of Light, so I’ll just leave this here ^ ^;

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I’ve been trying to think of something for ages but I’ve come up with nothing, will edit if that changes but HE’S SUCH A GOOD BEAN????

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

HE DIDN’T HAVE TO HAVE GANG LEADERSHIP DUMPED ON HIS SHOULDERS AT FREAKIN’ FOURTEEN (aka, Shorter didn’t have to die sobs)

Also. (vaguest spoilers) His part in the end. That didn’t have to happen to him.

A headcanon fact:

Sing’s tastebuds are, in fact, MAJORLY fucked up, even though he’ll never recognize it.

And it’s entirely Shorter’s fault.

See, Shorter’s cooking is rather...eccentric, to say the least. He has all the cooking knowledge and skill set you’d expect of the owner of a Dim Sum Restaurant, and everything he makes LOOKS perfect. BUT, he also has this bizarre, unstoppable urge to experiment and throw in absolutely nonsensical things. HE CAN’T HELP IT. And thus, to most people, Shorter’s cooking tastes like crap, and they learn this very quickly, and tend to avoid it.

Everyone except the lil kid who idolized Shorter above all else and thought he was the Absolute Coolest Guy Ever.

If the Absolute Coolest and Most Awesome Boss cooks something, it must certainly be the Most Awesome Food, right??

Sing may have cringed or had his doubts the first few times he tasted Shorter’s food, but that’s honestly so far in the past now that he can only shrug. He literally GREW UP on Shorter’s food. He’d pop by Chang Dai every day, heck he crashed at Shorter’s frequently. Sometimes Nadia would look concerned and try to feed him HER food, but all respect to Shorter’s sister aside, if Shorter needs a taste tester, Sing’s the first in line! (he’s the only one in line)

(Sing’s eager and enthusiastic scarfing of everything he cooks may have also played a part in Shorter’s cooking never changing to appeal to more standard palates)

The key, Sing tells Eiji, who warily pokes at what looks to be harmless and very delicious looking Chinese cuisine, is to NEVER assume. That looks like fried rice, yeah? BUT WHAT IF IT’S NOT. Those look like spring rolls? YOU DON’T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT’S INSIDE. It’s all a surprise! You only think it tastes weird because it’s not what you expected. No one else’s food is this exciting!

Eiji maybe wonders whether the point of food is have excitement and surprises, but is willing to give Shorter’s cooking a second go, and surprisingly enough, Sing’s advice helps.

(Ash comes home and is horrified to see Eiji looking happy as he partakes in Shorter’s food with Sing, food that Ash KNOWS is freaky af. Shorter looks so blissed out he’s in tears.)

Having a unique appreciation of Shorter’s food doesn’t mean Sing can’t appreciate more normal food too, and it certainly doesn’t affect his own cooking. He loves Eiji’s cooking almost as much as Shorter’s. BUT, perhaps as a result, Sing’s developed a distaste for fine expensive cuisine, especially French, which unfortunately seems to be extremely popular business dinner food.

Needless to say, Sing and Ash’s food preferences tend to be polar opposites, only agreeing on Eiji’s cooking ^ ^;

As for fic recs, the vast majority of fics I’ve read for YOI are in Japanese on pixiv, or are novels/doujins I’ve purchased direct from the artist/writer ^ ^;; If you can read Japanese, I’d be happy to give recs, tho I haven’t read in a while so need to catch up on newer ones ^ ^;;

Most of the fics I’ve been reading for BF are also in Japanese, because there are a LOT of them, and a lot of super long/series fics too AHAHAHA There’s obviously the most Asheiji, but I’ve read some fantastic Shoreiji, Ashoreiji, Singeiji (there’s one that’s 3 series long and still going LOL), and even Yuteiji :D

There are some English ones I’ve enjoyed immensely as well, but I defs spend more time on pixiv, simply bc there are more ^ ^; Of the English, I’ve enjoyed a lot, there’s a lot of fantastic fics out there! but it’s still a growing fandom so it shouldn’t take too long to take a scroll through the archive if you’re interested ^v^)b (BUT be warned if you’re avoiding manga spoilers, some of the fics have VERY BOLD SPOILERS right in the summaries ^ ^; <- how I got spoiled LMAO)
