I’m sneaking in some work time while we’re down in NC visiting our families. My husband and I are high school sweethearts (🥰🥰) so that means all of our families are in the same town. It’s a gift and a curse because we get to see everyone at once, but we also always leave feeling like we didn’t get to see anyone enough. But I’m thankful for every moment and it’s just such a grace to watch our boys get loved on by the best aunts, uncles, and grandparents our hearts could desire. I’m really focusing on being present in the moment, because they don’t last long. Happy New Year, friends. If you watched my Stories yesterday, you saw that my little Jack (4) and I did some wet felting together. It was such a sweet experience and Jack was just beside himself with excitement about it. It reminded me that I should include him in as much work as possible. He can’t be a part of every aspect (needle felting needles are too sharp!) but participating in work together is so important for him in innumerable ways. Especially in seeing a woman creating beauty with her hands. I heard on the radio about some new study from Harvard that says it’s better for kids when moms work outside the home. Commence eye roll. Love your kids. Invite them into your life. Treat them with respect and dignity. These are the important things. Can I get an Amen? For the first time this morning, I said to my boys, I’m going to do some reading over here for fifteen minutes (actually, I pointed to our big clock and said “until the clock points here” 🤣 gotta speak their language), while you guys play together. And I sat on the couch and read while they played in the “ocean” of blankets right next to me. I had a couple interruptions which was fine, but getting that space to read for that little bit really helped start my day on the right foot. What do you do to help get your day on the right track?
