It seemed that winter was out in full force, and though Mary Kate didn’t love it, she was doing what she could to make the best of it. And that included a trip to the ice skating rink with Ruby as soon as she’d turned her final papers in, wanting to get brushed back up on her skills before she headed home and got challenged to whatever nonsense was in store for her in Sherwood Forest. Everything was a competition back home -- partially probably her own fault -- and she didn’t want to be caught off guard if anything on ice ended up in the mix. “Ice skating’s so not as easy to pick back up as riding a bike. Give me like, five minutes though, and I’ll no longer be any kind of fall-risk,” Mary Kate declared. She wasn’t sure she’d be 100% sure of her footing that quickly, but she liked to give herself a target deadline. “Because seriously, by the end of last winter I felt like I could do anything! I even thought about watching a AuraTube video to learn how to do one of those fancy toe loop things, but like the next day the ice melted,” Mary Kate said, starting to skate a little shakily, not ready yet to try and turn around to see if Rue was just behind her or not.
