I don't know if you saw, but the producer of the uzumaki series Jason Demarco apologized for the dip in quality between episodes on his bluesky account. He doesn't go into specifics, but basically the the remaining episodes are a different animation studio because something happened during production. :(
I kind of sensed it turned out like that. This anime went through production hell over the years, after all. You know what would have been best? If they had just released episode 1 as a standalone OVA or something. Even watching just the first episode could have drawn viewers into the manga.
It still makes me sad, though. How can a fully completed manga with such a massive fanbase still end up like this? As much as I’m happy to see Junji Ito getting the recognition he deserves, it's frustrating that his work suffers because of it.
