654. Welcome Disturbances (Final Fantasy VII: Rufus/Sephiroth, 4.4k, E)

Summary: Rufus did not expect a visitor tonight, but that doesn't mean he's going to slam the door in his face.

It's Dark Nation who senses the disturbance first. One moment he's lying propped against Rufus on the sofa, letting his ears be scritched, his tentacle giving the occasional twitch, the next his ears prick up and his head lifts from his paws, lips drawn back, teeth showing.

He makes no sound, but springs to his feet and off the sofa. Rufus closes the book he was reading. Although Dark Nation is still young and excitable, he's not jumpy by any means.

Summary: Rufus had never quite believed the reports about Sephiroth's death. Yet when the man who killed his father confronts him, he is forced to admit that it's not the Sephiroth he had once known.

Shinra personnel work fast when they want to. Certainly when the task at hand is to erase any evidence of the former president's murder.

Rufus frowns at the spot his father is supposed to have fallen, unable to keep the displeasure from showing on his face. The carpet has been scrubbed clean as new, the floor polished to a mirror shine. He has watched the surveillance footage himself, and yet he still somehow believes it must have been tampered with.

I’m sorry it’s taken this long for me to write something semi-coherent for my latest rare pair obsession. I feel ashamed.

Sephiroth exhales slowly through his nose. "It's nothing."

This all started with the random observation that “there should totally be a Model AU. Sephiroth and Tseng would make great hair models.” and then spiralled out from there. @neurotoxia and I didn’t even seriously consider writing it in the beginning, but now here we are xD
