So I have this Roleswap AU I still think about where Jack is a psychic and Aki is the City’s darling Queen

Stadium security kept Jack in one of their temporary holding cells, typically used for angry drunks and thieves. The guards proffered the same warning as Godwin cranked up to eleven. The amount of times they suggested he'd choke Aki out made her wonder if it was some sort of fetish scenario. They led her to the cell and swore they'd be right outside.

Jack sat hunched in the darkest corner. Scorch marks crisscrossed his forearms and shoulders. She took a single step into the cell. He didn't look up. His husky voice said, "Izayoi."

"Atlas."

He rose to his full height, far more imposing face-to-face compared to looking down on him from the viewing deck. He lumbered forward. Her heart pounded but she knew better than to give ground. Jack cocked his head. "What are you here to take from me?"

She scoffed in a vain attempt to prove the assumption ridiculous. In reality, she needed to buy time. Her plan going in had involved cleavage and bedroom eyes but Jack looked at her like he would a fly.

"Take? I'm here to give." She buried her fear as she had as a ten-year-old watching her father systematically dismantle her mother's life. She stroked Jack Atlas's broad chest with a finger and purred, "I'm here to offer you the world. Yusei's a scary guy. I have certain... connections and options that will make beating him a piece of cake."

He barked out a laugh. Aki didn't move. She batted her lashes. Jack said, "I know Yusei better than any of your City worms, and he won't break under your heel. Neither will I. Let me guess. You wanted to exchange the victory for me throwing the match against you?"

She shook her head and stuck out her lower lip. Jack grabbed her chin. Her heart skipped a beat. He growled, "You can't play me, Izayoi. You represent everything I hate about this city. You'll step on whoever it takes to reach your throne. No matter the rotting Satellites across the way or the blood dripping from your soles, you're at the top, and it's a wonderful view, isn't it? I'm going to ruthlessly and publicly tear you down. You'll regret the day you were born with that silver spoon in your mouth. I'll show you the kind of brutality only a Satellite could manage, and there's nothing you can do to change that."

She licked his thumb down to his palm. His hands fled from her face, and his brows shot up. She backed towards the door, saying, "I look forward to it. By the by, there's a bill on the senate floor today concerning the level of aid offered Satellites. Would be a shame if a certain Satellite smeared their public image and made it all the worse for them."

Aki hummed a tune as she returned to the observation deck.

Aki slumped onto the couch beside Jack, half-watching the TV before simply cuddling up, throwing her legs over his thighs to get closer; his arm snaked around her without any hesitation, and she sighed, nuzzling her nose against his shoulder.

“What do you want for Christmas, honey?” Her voice was soft, frayed at the edges with tire. The dark nights had come in quick, and she was far too aware that it was only due to get worse before it got better. Maybe that was why she had thrown herself into the holiday spirit so intensely.

Either way, Jack didn’t seem to mind it. If anything, the bright lights and festive cheer kept the cold from his bones. Not that he had considered presents yet. He had promised to think about it back in October, and…

Well, he had come up short.

His lips pursed, and he frowned as he thought it over. He resigned himself to saying the first thing that came to mind. Whatever it became would be what he wanted the most, right? “You.”

Aki blinked up at him for a moment, before giggling, shaking her head. “You already have me.” She shifted to straddle his lap, blocking the screen with her body.

“Well, then I don’t want anything, babe. I have everything I want already.” He sounded so serious. His hands rested on her hips, and he leant forward to press his lips against hers.

“You’ll be cold,” she had warned Aki, leaning against the doorway with her arms crossed. “I won’t. I’ll be fine. That,” She pointed towards the white fluff that adorned Jack’s body, “is overkill.”

The bonfire’s heat only did so much to keep the ice from growing in Aki’s veins – she had anticipated low temperatures but had clearly failed to prepare for them. She huffed, watching in vague horror at the cloud that formed in front of her face.

And to think, she had questioned Jack’s choice of a teddy bear coat when she had come to pick her up.

“You’ll be cold,” she had warned Aki, leaning against the doorway with her arms crossed.

“I won’t. I’ll be fine. That,” She pointed towards the white fluff that adorned Jack’s body, “is overkill.”

She certainly regretted it now, and she knew it was obvious. She frowned, staring absently at the flames. Perhaps they were just too far away for any residual heat, but she had no interest in getting any closer. No, fire… frightened her. It was much better to remain at a safe distance.

“Cold?” Jack asked, leaning down with a slight smirk. She was right – she often was – and Aki could already tell that she was going to rub it in just a little. She sighed, rolling her eyes at the pitiful expression given back to her. “Fine, fine. Take this.” She began unzipping the warm coat.

“No, no! You’ll freeze.”  Jack simply rolled her eyes and continued, scoffing at the idea. Her veins were made of pure fire – she would be fine.

The coat was wrapped around her frame before she could argue any further. “There.” Aki watched as she wrapped her scarf further around herself, seemingly content like that. “Better?”

“…Better.”

Hi, thank you for liking my Ruinshipping art! Just want to say I read through your "Unova Re-education" fic recently and it was a lot of fun~ Thanks for the feels + helping me sympathize more with Volo (after GF dropped the ball on giving his backstory). It's unfortunate SV won't be incorporated in this universe (so he can meet Raifort since I imagine their interaction would be interesting), but I definitely understand your decision to end the story when you did and hope you recover fully. <3

No problem! It was a great piece. And thank you so much for reading! Honestly I do kick myself a little I never got them to interact. Ah well maybe I'll do a stand alone some time or something.
