who the FUCK voted for all those boring ballads?!?!?!??

#now i'm thinking of adventures of rival magical being dads who have to get their shit together in order to save their kids #who as the typical YA protagonists are in trouble again and again #yes they could defeat the villain on their own bc they have protagonist powers. no these dads will not stand for it #bc these are their KIDS and a centuries-old prophecy got NOTHING on parental worries okay??#((and then they begrudgingly have to save each other from the villains traps. and then have to acknowledge each other's skills and even #trust them. and then they fall in loooove))#(((of course i am imagining them as a vampire dad and an elf dad bc that's just the way i am. but honestly it could be any kind of magic #rivals. vampire and werewolf? seems fun. merman and pirate? yes hello please. warlock and witch-hunter? mhm of course.#why not a mummy (daddy???) and a catfolk (who always has to fight the urge to claw and swat at any loose bandages)?#or a headless horseman and a gorgon who gets mad that their evil stares have no effect on the other #idk!!! i am tired and not creative but i bet there are some even more fun combinations that i just can't think of!!!!#(a werewolf and a skeleton would be pretty funny too though i really could see that as a comedy only)#anyways i need to sleep but i can't bc this won't leave my head :(#rukarambles

feelings of elation (indulging in watching the kids' movies on netflix of stories i read when i was a kid)

feelings of awkward discomfort (realizing that indeed my needs in stories has changed, and also why is the dad vampire who's wearing a leather coat hugging his son and making horrible dad jokes kinda attractive, that's NOT what I am supposed to be focusing on 🙈)

#attractive as in. i'd like to spend time with him as a friend and i bet he gives great hugs.#rukarambles #update: he cries bc his son is about to go away for school and when his son says 'you can let go now'#he just says 'nope' and keeps hugging 🥺#man i knew i was sleep-deprived but if this already makes me emotional i should maybe go to bed instead of watching a movie #anyways yes i love characters that look badass but are huge softies and i stand by it. please more dear filmmakers

Ideas for a more fun ESC:

- every country has to send their earliest (still living) contest participant

- every country has to send their biggest (willing) act (not sure yet on how this'll be deduced though)

- splitting the entries into ESC Fun and ESC Ballad (putting the ballads into one spot makes it easier to avoid them)

- alternative option 1: doing both ESC Fun AND ESC Ballad, every country has to perform one ballad and one bop (to show they can pull off both concepts I guess; you could still ignore the Ballad subsection if you don't wanna hear any)

- alternative option 2: normal ESC but there is only one (1) ballad entry allowed and the countries have to fight over it (suggested this one in the tags of another post already but I think it should have a place here as well)

- every country has to provide one song and one performer, the songs then will get shuffled and randomly assigned to the countries

and my personal favourite

- shuffle tier two: those songs all have to be in their countries' official language (or one of them if they have more than one) because I think it would be funny

- alternative shuffle: every country provides a song and a performer but this time it's the performers who get randomly assigned to the countries by drawing lots

do i think austria's song is good? no. do i think she sings well? also no. do i enjoy the song and dance along on my bed and think they should go on to the finale? oh hell yes <3

one of my pet peeves is when people misspell character's names in fic (not one typo bc that's just something that can happen to everyone. i mean like consistently misspelling it through the whole text and even the tags) but it can be a little funny if the misspelled version now has another meaning

which brings me to the fact that i've been seeing some Ocean's fics lately where people spelled 'Reuben' as 'Rueben' which is like. German for 'turnips' and it always makes me laugh haha

#if i ever have any ambition and motivation to write fic for this fandom there are quite a few things i'd like to work in like this #for example you know that debbie speaks german bc sandra bullock grew up here right? well you know what a (rare but legit nonetheless)#german surname is? it's Heist. now wouldn't it be funny if they gave her that as a cover identity (i think it would)#(not least bc name-wise i feel connected to ocean's 8 seeing as my name is exactly one vowel away from meaning lesbian robbery in english #i know that the fandom likes to call debbie and lou heist wives but it wasn't until a few day ago that i literally gasped and realized that #if i ever marry i'm gonna be a heist wife too! and if i get married to a girl we're gonna be heist wives! (bc i wouldn't wanna give up my #name in marriage tbh))#also! as much as i love the debbie/lou/tammy stuff i kinda wanna include a nod to tammy and her hubby splitting up #and tammy starting a new relationship with another newly single woman. who might or might not work for the fbi. and might or might not be #in semi-regular contact with the ocean family especially after she saved danny and the boys at the end of o12 #(like. maybe bobby's fbi cover got blown and the caldwells have to 'separate' for a bit? maybe they have an open relationship anyways?#still up to consideration. but seeing as their actresses used to date i think a nod to that would be nice #although now i can only think of that 'did you fuck my mom santa claus' meme with linus and tammy bahahaha)#((and of course danny's not really dead. i mean his grave doesn't even say 'daniel ocean' nor even 'daniel 'danny' ocean'#it just says 'danny ocean' and as far as i know grave markers have to state the legal name if they're not anonymous graves #or at least that's where i live... maybe it's different in the us but since it supports the theory of him being not really dead i am #in favor of ignoring differing us regulations if they exist))#rukarambles #ocean's

also I never understood the practice of face-claiming in fandoms (partly because a character's appearance is definitely not the most important thing about them for me, partly because pretty much every time I imagined a character a particular way everyone else seemed to have a different idea of them - in order not to be too disappointed by film adaptations and the like I pretty much gave up on painting characters' images in my head above a rudimentary sketch like. at all)

but it's been 3 weeks and counting since I watched the Mötley Crüe movie on Netflix and I still cannot stop thinking of how movie-Nikki is the Sirius from my head appearance-wise (if you give him movie-Tommy's hair and body type)

#i haven't really drawn anything in like a year now and even before then it was only sporadically as i am not really an artist #but believe me if i say that i've been contemplating actually drawing marauders/wolfstar fanart nearly every day since then #if only i had any idea what to actually draw #and if i had any less doubts keeping me from actually drawing since i am not good at drawing and i don't wanna end up disliking whatever #the outcome is (like pretty much every time)#(and you know. the whole not really wanting to engage with the series/its characters outside of my head bc jkr's such a dickhead thing.)#but i literally cannot stop thinking about it #oh well... i might have to at least take a shitton of reference screenshots......#(although i've been procrastinating on that bc well. it's a whole movie and that takes time to get through with a comb lol)#rukarambles
