Just wanted some clarification, are we voting for who we'd hear out the most or who is the most outrageous hear me out?

There's kind of two things to it. You're voting for which you think are hear me outs, and then of those it is up to you whether you pick your favourite or the most outrageous. <3

Question: I haven't seen a rule against it, but are we allowed to use Flufftober prompts with original characters? May I submit writing that doesn't necessarily belong to a fandom (apart from me, the creator)? If I do, should I create some work on my blog about my characters beforehand?

Hey there 😊 yes, OCs and original works are very much allowed.

The only thing we ask is that you mark these clearly - either by clearly marking it in the post or with tags like #original work, #original characters, or #OC [name].

Changes have been made to the Event Rules and Gift Guidelines.

These changes are as follows:

(Added 01/12/23): Mature and explicit content will be allowed in this event. However, you have the options on your interest & 'prompt' forms to state if you as both a gifter and giftee are not comfortable with this. (Added 01/12/23): Admin will do their best to ensure Gifters and Giftee's are matched according to what they are comfortable creating and receiving.

I’m confused what you mean by not searching for fics with a slash relationship? You won’t look for any romantic pairings or does slash mean something else?

Hello anon! Let us clarify: that post was specifically about ships between the batkids -- sorry, we should have worded it more clearly!

For the comfort of the mods, we don't answer any asks that involve batkid ships. Our main interest as readers and fic finders are gen or mostly gen fics, as most of the mods are only familiar with these kinds of fics. We simply don't know most of the content you're looking for if you've lost, say, a Jason/Tim fic.

If the searcher forgets that there's a ship between the siblings involved, no harm done, however that is not our mission here. This has been a rule of ours for a long time now, but we do want to make it clear that we do not take any moral judgments on shipping of any kind.

We have previously addressed this here, with regards to tagging these kinds of ships. We're happy to answer other clarifying questions, but any we believe to be in bad faith will be deleted.

Quick Answer: No.

Long answer: The mods have discussed this.  We understand that sometimes stories are closer to the authors than others and looking at other remix rules. It’s always been the rule of 1 safe story.  We found one comm that did one safe story/series, so we’ll expand that to 1 story/series.  

We’re also making it so gift fics are treated similar to those written by co-authors.  If you want to make them eligible - you need to have at very least an opt out post, so that your giftees can choose to opt out.  If you’d rather not have someone remix them, then simply do not have an opt out post. 

Co-authors still require expressed permission.  They are opt in, rather than opt out.

B. Are there any rules around the rating? Can I remix a G-rated story and write something Explicit?

We are not placing rules around the ratings. We are required to tag accordingly and realize that by changing the rating the original author might not have much interest in reading it.

They're additional extra prompts, Alt 11 to Alt 25, and you can use them the same way you would use the regular additional prompts.

For rule n.1 - I've been really inspired by a prompt but it would be an incest ship. If I write it but don't put it in the collection/tag it for tumblr - can I still acknowledge it's from Flufftober and put it in my private flufftober series without involving you?

Secondly, is it okay if there's some reference to past canonical incest? For reference it's a game of thrones fic where one character in the main paring used to be in an incestuous relationship, and I want to briefly touch on that. Is that okay if it's not the main focus and it's not longer romantic?

And yes, both of these are totally fine. Of course, we won't keep anyone from getting inspired by our prompts, so you can create whatever your muse wants you to do. We won't even control whether you add it to the ao3 collection since that won't be moderated. The only difference, as you've already noted, is that we won't reblog it on our blog. And yeah, the second one is also fine 😊
