please look at aries
do you want The Aries Man, The Aries Woman, The Aries Child, The Aries Boss or The Aries Employee.
Before "getting" ADHD, I thought I was autistic, but realize I feel more right with the ADHD diagnosis. However, one thing I've never been able to place is my inability to understand double meanings. Jokes and sarcasm often fly straight over my head, but more annoyingly, I am completely inept at understanding symbolism and imagery in poetry and lyrics. Which is frustrating as hell, because I'm a writer. Anyways, I know this is common with autism, but is it also an ADHD-trait?
Even after I was diagnosed with ADHD, I definitely saw a lot of qualities that would be common in people with Asperger’s Syndrome. I think ADHD truly does mirror a lot of that what with hyper fixation and such.
You may just be a very literal person. Make sure to just pause to think about phrases you hear. If it is an ADHD trait, it may be more that your brain is processing only one meaning right away because that is the first impulse.

I really struggle with understanding symbolism and imagery too. And I’m a writer! It’s one reason why I’m focusing on copyediting in my publishing certificate: I don’t think I’d be a very good structural editor since that’s not how I read at all but I still notice typos and whatnot when I’m reading for fun.
Like MJ, I’m not sure if it’s an ADHD thing specifically, but it definitely could be. I know that there are certain types of humour that I just do not understand, and other types that I think are hilarious and other people find really weird and unfunny. I finally just decided I’m weird and I’m good with that.
