RUN BTS! 2019 - Epi.71
Run 7 - Run for Al & Cait
Today, two of my best friends and I ventured out to the American Tobacco Trail to do a 5K. It is SO much easier to get motivated and to get out and push yourself when you have people by your side. And I was lucky enough to have my people by my side. We all have goals we are working towards and both Cait and Allison blew me away with their achievements.
Caitlin ran 4.5 miles in less than hour (her fastest mile was 12:59 --> SO AMAZING). I dream of the day when I can run a sub 40 minute 5K.
Allison jogged 1.2 miles of her 3.52 mile distance which seriously had me in awe of her. I'm pretty sure that at the end of my first 5K training program, I could not jog a mile without stopping.
I was just getting my Nike Plus app set up so I'm not exactly sure how long my 5K took, but I believe it was about 47 or 48 minutes (I was able to track a portion with Nike Plus, and the rest I'm estimating.) I found it more difficult to jog outside than on the treadmill because I haven't perfected the art of pacing myself, yet. I'm hoping to get better at running outside and to switch it up more often, because I do love running on trails - it's so peaceful.
Running is such a mind game and when you have someone beside you to remind you that you can keep going - because they are/did - it's a huge boost. I am so excited to have some partners in crime to work with towards this goal of mine.
Thank you both for the support and for the company. You both amaze me and I love you. Let's do it again next Sunday?
