Run Dust - ‘Serf Rash’ LP [In Paradisum]
Launched in 2012, what I really love about Paris-based label In Paradisum is its bold, consistent and dizzying yet awesome array of influences, from Extreme Metal, Doom, Sludge and Hardcore to Techno, House, Ambient and Drone. Luke Calzonetti aka Run Dust’s new LP released by In Paradisum is another fine example of this melting pot. Frosty bleeps and gauzy textures, brutal techno beats, unsettling ambience and sparse drums, soothing soundscapes, alarming sirens and rough drums, lo-fi, housey and bittersweet soundscapes, Serf Rash has all this and more. There’s an outright refusal to stick to one style, ant that’s what makes this LP a strangely compelling beast.
