Yesterday’s early morning 3 miles, slow, except when I became aware that there was one or 2 cars driving oddly slowly on Eldridge Ave. As I was paying attention to a slow driver I crossed the street to a small park where there is a wall blocking between the street and the park. Low and behold, there is a man crouched behind it, looking like he’s fixing his bike (in the dark). I made sure I looked at him, shined my light on him, sped up a couple of minutes a mile, turned my music off, and paid attention that I wasn’t being followed. Interesting to see my heart rate didn’t go up for several blocks. I didn’t feel in danger, I felt concerned I was going to end up in the middle of a place I shouldn’t be.
Lesson: stay alert, stay calm, run strong. Oh, and run with a dog. Thankfully, when it’s dark out, Grace runs right next to me, unquestionably.
