3 mile trail run!! I needed this alot. I went to lunch with my friend who lives in Colorado. And then we went to the gym together. I was 18 minutes away from a trail, so I was like, I'm going to go run.
It's been a really rough day and I knew trail running would make me feel better. It was really nice. I love the trails. And I've only ran on these trails in the winter for my birthday race. So it was nice to run in the summer, too. I typically go to a different trail.
I was stalked by a horse fly the entire time. I was whipping my braid around like a horse tail trying to get him to go away. He kept biting me!! Not the worst thing to be stalked by in the woods, so can't complain too much.
I decided to take all rights on the way out so I knew to take all lefts on the way back, but then I took one left (the right looked weird). And I forgot which left it was on the way back 😂. I figured it out because I went to turn left and stopped in my tracks because in the middle of the trail was a bright, green crab apple. I definitely would have remembered running past that. Also, my watch has a little trail navigation so I followed it on the way back.
Love, love, love my altras so much 🥹

Ran a half marathon yesterday!!! Felt really good about it!!!
This Week's Update
Did my Tuesday 4 miler as per usual. Nothing much to report. I thought I might be able to get another 5k PB, but alas it was not be. I was close though! If I hadn't have slowed down on my second mile, I would have done it.
It also spontaneously rained halfway through too.
I've got another busy weekend ahead and I won't have time for a run so I will go for my short run that I have down on a Thursday in the past. It's usually 2 miles, but seeing how well I do I may up it to 5k if I think it worth it.
Life is very busy at the moment!
7km run around the Wetlands with Daughter tonight. Slow and steady got the run done. I had heavy legs from the bike ride home and Daughter is working through a leg injury so speed was not happening today. The sun came out and the wind died down so the conditions were great. We both ended up having a good run and a good foam roller and stretch when we got home. I ran past the rose on the homeward leg and ran back to take a picture. Beautiful.
When I run I feel like nothing can get me, like I’m in a place where all my problems are on hold and I have time to process and plan, to make sense of everything, to run through all my options and work out the one that makes sense.
Sometimes I feel like I could just keep running and escape everything, its the only thing that makes sense to me. It’s time I need to understand and work through everything around me.
People always say to me “If you’re so busy you could not go for a run.” They don’t understand I could not do that. I need to run to keep myself together, to ground me, to help me control my breathing and my thoughts. It is my time to myself, just because it is physical exercise to me it is the thing the turns the volume down on the rest if the world.
Running is my quiet time.
