Skipped this question from @writtendevastation when I answered the others, I couldn’t decide on one OC so this is gonna be long asghdasjdgk
5. If your characters could be stuck in any video game or tv show, what would it be? Why, and would they survive?
Finding Magic:
Runa: An (action) adventure or an open world RPG; maybe a Legend of Zelda game. And yeah, she'd make it.
Laith: A puzzle game, like Professor Layton or mayyyybe Ace Attorney (I say, having played these games for like 5 minutes combined). He'd do pretty well, too.
Ephraim: I can see him more in a TV Show than a game. Something live action but weird, like the creators couldn't decide whether they wanted action or a rom-com. He's got a 50/50 chance of survival.
Falfain: A fantasy RPG like Elder Scrolls. And... Well, probably depends on the player, unicorns being what they are, iirc in at least one Elder Scrolls you had a quest where you got to choose whether you wanted to kill a unicorn or not, so...
Ira & Lupita:
Ira: A beat 'em up or fighting game, but if fighting, probably one with several opponents (Like Smash Bros), not 1 vs 1. And yeah she'd OWN that shit.
Lupita: A cooking show. And those are rarely deadly.
Reyes: Probably a 1 vs 1 fighting game. They're pretty good, but there is a risk of them dying.
Seldnacs:
Fantasia: Hm, I'd say a Shonen Anime. Something that starts somewhat lighthearted and then slowly gets darker. They'd probably be in mortal danger at least once, and there's like a 50/50 chance of survival.
Sky: Some fun, cute, colorful jump n run!! Or some other short fun game, the type you usually get for under 5$ on Steam. And she'd have SO much fun in it!!
Mikki: He'd love a dating game, but he'd probably end up in like, a western movie/show (transformed into a human I assume). He'd do pretty decently, though there is a chance he'd mess up and die.
Lena: Something Dystopian. A Cyberpunk movie/series, probably. And yeah, she'd survive.
Other/Without a story:
Ruby: Fantasy RPG, something a bit on the darker side, maybe open world. She'd survive.
Jade: An adventure game or tv show. He'd survive, but may find uh, alternative ways to finish the main quest instead of doing it "properly".
Oof uhhhhhm... I think I’m gonna go with Runa from Finding Magic, partially bc she’s losely based on an RL friend of mine if I ever get FM published I gotta ask her if she noticed lol and because I just like her character. She’s kind, maybe a bit too kind (”Yeah it may be a trap, but these people are asking for our help and I will help them!”), and she will not let anyone or anything erode that kindness, and I feel like that’s an important thing. Like, so often the Cool Strong Characters are all broody and suspicious, so I figured it was time again for an optimistic, kind character where the optimism and kindness aren’t “naive” or a “weakness”, like sure they might cause trouble, but they’re not inherently something to scoff at.
Hi, im new to your blog so happy STS! What is your WIP abouta nd who is your favourite character?
Hal we’re literally in the same Discord server I just use a different name there xD
I have so many WIPs uhhh... I’m gonna go with what’s theoretically my main one once I get around to actually editing it, which would be Finding Magic. It’s Fantasy, I think more specifically Epic Fantasy? It’s got traits of both High and Low Fantasy, so I’m not sure where it’d be there. Medium Fantasy?
Anyway, it’s about Runa and Laith, two humans from a small village in a country named Galetha. Things are fairly normal for them, if you ignore that Runa has managed to befriend a normally very shy unicorn - Until they get a cryptic letter from Laith’s grandfather, warning them that something is very, very wrong. So, they set out to find Laith’s grandfather, find out just what he was warning them about, and hopefully stop whatever it is!
They’re accompanied by Runa’s unicorn friend Falfain, Runa’s young puppydog, and a demon who calls himself Ephraim and appears to be stranded in this world.
As for favorite character, I love them all tbh. When I started my favorite was Ephraim, since he’s a lot of fun to write thanks to his kinda snarky nature. Runa is just so nice and sweet, and I love characters like that! And she’s vaguely based on a friend of mine, which helps lol. And Laith is just fun when he’s utterly lovestruck because he’s looking at Runa... Or being annoyed by how pretty Ephraim is.
How much attention do your characters pay to their surroundings?
Going with Finding Magic’s MCs, most to least:
Falfain pays a lot of attention to her surroundings. If something’s even slightly off, she’s the first one to notice. It’s at least partially because she’s a unicorn, and while they’re better at defending themselves than normal horses, they’re still prey animals - She needs to be aware of her surroundings.
Laith is fairly observant, but can end up lost in thought, which might cause him to not notice much anymore. So, as long as he doesn’t have a very intriguing mystery he wants to solve, or just learned something very interesting that he’s still thinking about, he notices most things.
Runa is kinda in the middle field. She loves looking at her surroundings, especially when she’s in a new place, but she doesn’t necessarily notice that something’s wrong unless it’s somewhat obvious. She does, however, notice things like exceptionally pretty flowers, interestingly shaped trees, etc.
Ephraim doesn’t notice anything. He could if he actually bothered to pay attention, but he’s usually busy teasing and/or trolling the others. Partially it’s because he never really had to - He’s a demon, and while he’s currently without his powers, that’s kind of a new development. And if he can use his magic, he’s pretty much too powerful to have too worry about most things. And as for the scenery, well... If someone tells him it’s pretty, he’ll look, but he doesn’t really care all that much.
“Hi! My name’s Runa. I’ve grown up in a little village in a country named Galetha, though my father and I are originally from much farther east. We came here when I was still very little, though. Anyway, I love it here! The people are nice, and my best friend Laith lives here, too.
I like being in nature - There’s a forest right outside the village, and I spend a lot of time there. Especially after-- Oh, wait, sorry, I promised not to tell anyone! Aside from that, I like dancing, and music in general.”
(She met & befriended a unicorn in said forest, but those usually don’t like humans finding out where they live)
