I worked quite hard on developing a Grantaire voice, because he is a perplexing character to me in many ways. I’ve tried to get into his head - or at least somewhere recognizably adjacent.

I will say, I sometimes get self-conscious about the sheer volume of obscure references I put into Grantaire’s mouth - but then I reread bits of canon and he really is like that, wow.

(I like to imagine I’ve managed to influence some people’s takes on Grantaire, even a little. Not that they necessarily go for the same characterization, but that maybe it made them think or pick up something from there that they liked.)

This is a candy shop!

It’s been around for as long as anybody can remember, and it doesn’t have the cleanest exterior, but it’s an establishment.

And it’s every kid’s dream to plunge their arm up to their shoulder in those barrels full of individually wrapped candies. From the mints to the taffees, it gets far more traffic after school than any gas station.

The prices that the owner has kept the same since the 1950s doesn’t hurt, either. Modern pocket money goes a lot farther than it did a decade or two ago!

There’s even rumors of an ice cream extension being put in soon, and the neighborhood has never kept an eye on something so closely since the public pool.

I was asked this before, but fortunately I am problematic and have many opinions.

"Vegetable" as a category of food is just the unwanted "others" of every other category. It has no specific property to determine what it is or isn't, it's just leftovers of what wasn't claimed by everything else.

Day 7: Hero Not Hero

What first piqued my interest: “Unfortunately, while your peers have powers like fluid manipulation and dimensional teleportation, you have the unreliable power to control furniture.” SOLD. 🤣 Also, I’ve always loved the Choose Your Own Adventure style of storytelling.

What I want to learn more about: Honestly, the character descriptions in the link below are so fabulous, I’m not sure where to start! I need to know more about these people, who include a fashion designer who summons unicorns, a paranoid barista who can make other people hyperactive, and the literal embodiment of wifi.

What I’m excited about: I think it’s clear that I’m totally on board with the characters and method of storytelling, but I’m also just curious to see how player choices affect the plot (the #1 thing I love about RPGs--ask me how many times I’ve played the Dragon Age games). This whole concept is really original and fun!

i’m doing pretty good (all things considered). i finally got the call for my top surgery (it’s on this friday, 19 june) so i’ve been zooming around trying to get everything ready for that so sdhaklfhdsklfhdsklafja
