XX2i USA1 Sunglasses Review
Disclaimer: I received a XX2i Optics - USA1 to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!
If you have followed any of my gear reviews, race day kit layouts, or pre-long run layout photos you would notice one thing - I have never included sunglasses. While I always considered sunglasses, I have never deemed them a necessity. Why? Mainly because the price tag of many brands is much higher than I would want to spend.
Thankfully as a BibRavePro I was able to test out the XX2i USA1 Sunglasses for running!
The USA1 kit comes with everything necessary. Glasses, strap, hard case, soft case, interchangeable nose pieces, tips, and the tools and screws to do it!
I did not change the nose piece, I tried the tips but was unsuccessful. Considering the tip color doesn’t impact how the sunglasses work I wasn’t too concerned. I will note the screwdriver is the perfect size for the screws in my MacBook Pro (one of them was loose and was falling out).
I was able to run with the glasses a handful of times. The one time I really needed them, they were locked in my car and I didn’t feel like going in my house to get my car key to get my sunglasses. Probably not the best idea.
Getting Geared up before a run in the snowy WI weather! Note my mom’s old school flooring.
I wore these during a sleety, ice pellety, snowy run. They worked great to protect my eyes from getting watery from the flakes getting into them or hanging out on my ever long eyelashes. I was very thankful to have them. I love polarized glasses and will not wear anything else. Thankfully the USA1 are polarized.
I wore them the next day or the day after on another run in WI. The ground was already covered with packs of snow from the days prior plus fresh new snow that was falling and sticking to the ground. I decided to wear my glasses again. They worked to keep the snow out of my eyes, but I had a hard time distinguishing from the snow/ice chunks from days prior to the freshly fallen snow on the road. I moved the sunglasses to the top of my head for safety reasons. Where they felt comfortable and did not fall or move. I’m not sure if that’s standard with sunglasses, these are sunglasses not snow protectors so I’ll give it a pass.
Post run from that day.
When I wore them in Chicago while sunny and snowing they worked great, but again for some parts of the run I had to move them to the top of my head because of fear of tripping over the patches of snow/ice since I couldn't tell dimensions of that versus the freshly falling snow. The hard part about that is my sweaty nasty hair makes the glasses gross and it’s hard to get them clean to continue to wear when my clothes are wet from the snow fall and sweat.
I won’t let this impact my opinion though. They do their job; they don’t bounce, fog, nor does the bottom rim hit my face.
I am excited to use these in the SUMMER when it is SUNNY out! The XX2i sunglasses retail for $59.99. You can save 50% with code XX2iRocks. Super deal. This is the warranty and exchange information from their website:
WARRANTY: Lifetime Warranty! No questions asked, you break or scratch them, send them back to be replaced for a nominal shipping and handling fee!
RETURN POLICY: 365 Days! We know it may take some time to try on and get comfortable with a pair of sunglasses bought online so that's why we give you a full year to do so! That's right, take up to 365 days to determine if you want to keep them and if not, send them back for a full refund less any shipping and handling fee.
When I’m running in the winter and the sun is shining I will definitely have my USA1 glasses on. The hardest part of me is remembering to wear them since sunglasses are not a staple in my running wardrobe. I do look forward to making them one!
Looking for some runblrs/running blogs to follow!
I’ve decided to get back into running (again), and this time I have a goal - be able to run 10 km. I’m using the training plan on Zombies, Run! which means I should run my first 10 km at the end of January (unless I can manged to do one in under 50 minutes!)
I know this blog has been a litte sparse, and a little numbers heavy, but I do plant to make it more me and more personal. I do running mostly, but I’ll probably drop in and out of other exercises as they take my fancy.
I’m looking for more personal runblrs to follow and get to know as we’re on our journeys, no matter how much you run. Like or reblog this post if you want to connect!
My main blog is @eiriee so that’s who I’ll be following back on.
