I did a rune cast with just a general, ‘what was my life like as Kidd’ sort of deal. I’m gonna have it below the cut if anyone reads it and has anything they want to add, or say, or feelings they get. <33

South- General Influences- Reversed Kenaz Failure, Loss, End of Passion

West- Obstacles Faced- Thurisaz Protection, Obstacles, Caution, Patience, Defense

North- Favorable Influences- Algiz Protection, Sanctuary, Friendship, Trust, Faith

East- Overall- Ingwaz Latent Energy, Fruition, Goal, Union

Spirit/Center- Long Term- Reversed Mannaz Isolation, Greed, Selfishness, Egocentricity

Algiz is my personal rune. Which I always like to see in any cast I do for myself.

The fact that “Obstacles” came up for “Obstacles” is obnoxious and I need to have a word with the Wyrd about being a smart ass (not really I’m not that rude for goodness sake but really not very insightful)

Ingwaz is usually associated, from what I can tell, with sexual energy. This... I am not sure how I feel about.

I can see how the favorable influences of that life are associated with Algiz. The things that made that life better (most lives for that matter) and also were driving forces were the things Algiz is associated with. Friendship and trust and faith. It might not have been faith in a higher power, but it was faith in The Creed. And faith in my crew. And faith in Kennway, Vane, Hornigold, etc. Faith in my own power and the good I was doing. The friendships which sustained our little Republic.

I can see too how Reversed Kenaz could be the general influences of that life. One does not go out to be a pirate just for the fuck of it after all. There has to be driving forces. Something that pushes one to the sea and then keeps one there. I have a lingering feeling that I couldn’t go back to where I was from even if I wanted to. The Brotherhood, the islands, the Republic, that was my home now. 

I don’t know why my long term would have ended up so... negative. Trying to do good. Trying to do right by... well... most people at least. Kill people to free people. Piracy was what it was I suppose. I dunno. That one and Ingwaz trouble me. Not to mention the very unhelpful Thurisaz.

Today's rune reading. 3 stone cast, Past Present Future cast. April 1st, 2015

Past: Kenaz- Kenaz is a rune of knowledge, understanding, learning, and teaching. literally means torch, esoteric ken.

Kenaz is lying in opposition. I assume that this is referring to my lack creativity, instability, exposure, and loss of direction. I’m glad that this rune is now behind me. Kenaz please bring back your light and show me the way to a brighter future.

Present: Ansuz- Ansuz is a rune that symbolizes stability and shows us order. It is also a rune that indicates intellectual activities and directly represents divine breath of al if and creation.

Ansuz is lying Merkstave. Ansuz merkstave represents dishonesty and labeling things without fully understanding them. I haven’t been doing great in school and have been lying to the ones I love that I have been going and doing well. Ansuz is reminding me to not begin to believe my own lies. I apologize. Thank you Ansuz for calling me out.

Future: Dagaz- Dagaz represents a stability between opposites, such as light and dark. It can stop harmful energy from getting to you but at the same time allow the good energy to slip through so that you can make good use of it.

Dagaz is lying in opposition. I’m afraid that this means the ending of something to come. Dagaz in opposition scares me because I am uncertain of what is going to end. It can also symbolize hopelessness and blindness. This rune is warning me to not be too egotistical or complacent. I need to take a step back and reassess myself. Dagaz please help me to see the light of your day through what is yet to come.

The Get-It-Together Rune Cast This is a variation on a Celtic cross layout and it has a lot to do with what is blocking a path and what one can do to overcome the obstacles and so on. I've been struggling with my art and so I did a rune cast for a little clarification. The feeling, overall, is pretty clear: stop focusing on past accomplishment and expecting them to define your future. Recent changes and chaos have impeded progress, but all storms must pass. Healing and clarity will lead to a new form of thinking. But funny story as I was selecting a rune for position 3 (occupied by hagalaz and pertaining to blockage of a goal), that same rune jumped out of my hands as I was mixing the runes. I put it back in, mixed some more and still I pulled it into the position. Much like Carissa's tarot deck, my rune set is about as subtle as a brick to the face. - Steen
