remember when Simon felt Raphael’s death because he’s his sire and instead of anyone telling him what that feeling felt jace just went ‘oh never mind, ignore it’

yes and i’m still so angry about it!! like i get that Simon and Raphael weren’t friends, could probably even be considered to be enemies - but wow, that really should’ve had more impact! and then the only acknowledgment is one of the Shadowhunters ( i don’t remember which one ) naming one of their blades after Raphael which is so 🙄🙄🙄

She was absolutely right -- but he didn’t realize it until she said it, that the loud thumping in his ears belonged to his pulse. His breathing came faster with the upped speed of his heart, that adrenaline edge that had awoken the beast within. He was starting to feel it, and had finally learned to tell that sort of thing, when it was coming on, when he could feel control slipping from his fingertips. There was an itch up his spin, like skin split open that was trying to heal, creating that burning desire to sink his nails into the open wound and dig until the wolf was set free. But he had to fight it, fight for his humanity, to keep it all locked up and the rest of the world safe from him.

Dull nails bit into his knees, gripping through dark denim as he clung to the moment. He focused on the sound of her voice as he continued to wrestle it. Nails had started to grow, lengthen and sharpen into claws, and he held tighter to himself, feeling the sting as skin was pierced through his pants. Shallow breaths, he tried to deepen them again, relax, calm down as she said. But he could feel his back splitting open, shoulders widening as bones and muscles contorted, stronger than his own willpower. 

“I can’t --” he said, voice strangled as his face twisted, teeth gritted and features tight and tense. It all started to slip away, and like a snap of a rubber band, he felt the last bit of resistance give out. Soaring upwards in full wolf form, he let out a great howl, clothing tearing and fangs bared for all of Brooklyn to see.

Sitting at the café she hadn't expected anyone to actually join her. At some point Magnus would be joining her, but at the moment she was content with whomever this new visitor was. She knew that this was another one that came from the Institute. Having spent the time around Magnus that she had she knew just what to expect. They didn't scare her and if they ever asked she would explain that she could see them when most others couldn't. But she was more interested in just what it was this woman wanted. Talia figured she was there to find out why she was in the city. Once again she found herself looking for the Shadow Market and unlike lat time it wasn't nearly as easy to find. Which was probably the whole point and why she'd stopped for some Turkish coffee. "Something I like to remember when I find myself struggling."

“mm, well,” stefan said, humming, swallowing softly as his gaze fell to isabelle’s smiling lips. she was stood next to him, smiling a wide smile, so bright it was almost too much to look at. it was something he was still trying to get used to. and it wasn’t that isabelle didn’t smile, he knew that, but having it aimed so often at him was.. it always took him a moment to really take it in. to not completely lose his train of thought. there was something soft about it, too, the way she smiled at him, and maybe that was what made his still-heart ache. 

he ducked his head to conceal his own smile and only raised it when he had it somewhat under control, letting himself look over at her again. “you make it pretty easy,” he told her, reaching across her to remove one of the pans from the heat that she’d forgotten in her excitement and haste to do something else for him. despite trying to hide it before, stefan was still smiling, too, a smile that easily reached his eyes and made them crinkle at the corners, as well as causing the dimples in his cheeks to pop.

       isabelle’s been relatively QUIET since coming to live with them. vera understands why. being separated from your friends and family can be difficult. vera knows this first hand. so when she knocks on the door that night, bearing a hot cup of tea and a smile, she’s understanding. ❝ hey there, ❞ she murmurs, ❝ sorry, i hope i’m not interrupting. just wanted to check in on you. i know...i know it must be hard, adjusting. mine was...a very long time ago, but i still remember how jarring it all was. and i had HALF the time as a shadowhunter as you. ❞ she hasn’t made much mention of her own shadowhunter roots, but she wants isabelle to know she’s not alone. ❝ what can i do to help ? ❞
