Can you please recommend a JK Rowling book? I want to read some of her non HP stuff but don't know where to start. Thank you!
Yeah you can read the books she wrote under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith! It's a series of mystery novels centering two detectives and they're meant for an adult audience, and address a lot of sexism. It's called 'Cormoran Strike' series and there's currently 7 published books, 8th is still in writing!
You can actually not even read them in order because each mystery is a standalone and comprehensive on it's own, I started with "The Ink Black Heart" and I still think it's absolutely incredible, featuring fandom, tumblr mentions, internet chatrooms and games, and solving a murder mystery using resources online combined with interviews and data collection. I loved that one so much and would recommend it as one of the best, together with 'The Running Grave' which features an infiltration of a cult (that one is fairly traumatic though).
Here's a link where you can see all of the books in the correct order: Link
I hope you have a great time! It's also super fun to find features in the books that are also in Harry Potter; some character traits and catchphrases repeat and I laughed every time I noticed the similarities, the accents she gives them, the broken noses and legs, how versatile and fun they all are. When I first read the Ink Black Heart I proclaimed 'This is Mad-Eye Moody and Hermione teaming up and solving mysteries!' which I now find funny but it felt like that at the beginning!
