Running Tips – Review Of The FuelBelt Sprint Palm Holder
First of all, I’m going to admit that I’ve never been one to carry water with me during a run. Years ago I tried to wear a hydration belt with a water bottle. I tried positioning it on my back, I tried the side – I just couldn’t run with it comfortably. And, then the sloshing drove me crazy. So, I just punted and kept getting water my way.
I would plan my runs where I knew there were water fountains and I would carry a gold dollar coin with me. Then, I could stop at convenience stores for water (I hate giving them a sweat-soaked dollar). This always worked well for me.
But, one day I came across this little hand held water bottle by Fuel Belt. I thought that I may as well give it a try. And, I’m really glad that I did!
The first time that I tried it was during an hour run. I decided to take it with me – I didn’t want to try it on a run longer than that in case that it drove me nuts. But, I was pleasantly surprised!
The FuelBelt Sprint Palm Holder holds 10 ounces of water. When full, it does not feel heavy at all. I also especially liked the fact that you really don’t hold onto the bottle. Your hand fits through the strap and it actually hugs onto your hand. And, the bottle is curved to actually fit the palm of your hand. So, you don’t have the feeling that you are carrying anything. (I don’t like that, either – I don’t understand people who carry their music instead of something that they wear). I like to have my hand free when I run. With this hand held – you can run with the way that you carry your hands normally.
There is also a small zippered pocket that attaches to it. It’s not really big enough to carry much – but large enough for a key or money.
I really do like the convenience and ease of the FuelBelt Sprint Palm Holder. Now, I don’t have to plan my routes so strictly to be able to have water when I need it. However, for longer runs, I will need to make a stop to refill the bottle. But, I don’t see that as a big problem as I would be stopping for water anyway.
