Brrrr..

Wednesday 8th February 2017 Off out again tonight whilst my daughter was at swimming and blimey it was a chilly one. Had my ears covered with a head band, running gloves on and top zipped up tight but 10 minutes in to the run and I was roasting so took my gloves off and loosened my zip. As I ran past an elderly gentlemen on the high street, he looked at me and said "brrrr" in a tone which was either pity or complete lunacy (on my part), I can't decide which. 34 minutes for 5km tonight which is pretty good for me so pleased with that. What's more I even managed to persuade my husband to get off the sofa and come out with me.

Absolutely! I will continue to press forward and challenge myself as long as it's fun. I just tend to be a goal-oriented person. Without the targets to shoot for, I know I wouldn't be as successful.

Jealous about goofy challenge, it’s going on my bucket list….never said that before…I’m getting old

It will definitely be a different experience for me. Something challenging, yet without a time target. Logistically, it seems like it might be a bit of a nightmare, but we're determined to make it a fun family vacation! Bucket list item for sure!

What was your first marathon time?

I ran my first marathon in 3:16, so I wasn't terribly far from 3:00. In my late 20s, I used to run sub-7 miles on my long runs without too much trouble, but the idea of doing that for a whole marathon still seemed super intimidating!

You need to run 5k in under 5 minutes next!

I sure hope you mean 5-minute miles! I don't have an official high school 5K PR, but I'd need to get down under 15:50 or so to make it a lifetime best. It would be fun to focus on just 5Ks for a little while, but for now they're just going to have to slip in between the bigger races.

After Matt broke 3 hrs, he started setting his sights on the 2:45 qualifying standard to bypass the NYC marathon lottery.

Uh oh. Now we're talking. For some reason, the NYC marathon hasn't had huge appeal for me. Maybe it's the lottery thing. Or the hassle of getting there. But a guaranteed entry at 2:45....hmmmmm.
