Happiness is...

Realizing that here are actually 11 weeks until your Ironman 70.3, not 8 weeks. I don’t know how I miscounted originally, but I am thrilled to have an extra 3 weeks. Especially since I am shipping my bike with TriBike which means I won’t have it for the last 10 days, at least.

On a sour note, I don’t think I got into the Moose Mountain Marathon. The official notices haven’t gone out, but it’s not looking good. There were 300 spots for 365 people that were on the published applicants lists. Now, the morning that the start list is supposed to be sent out, 300 names are off the list and mine is still on the list. Thinking that means those 300 people were selected and I’m in the unlucky 20% that didn't make it. I should find out for sure shortly, but I’m not optimistic.

But 11 weeks instead of 8! RunningWithAltitude, can you please confirm for me that I am counting correctly this time?

I wish we had a friendlier Masters swim. I swim alongside them sometimes and just hear the jerky comments and think nooooope!

That's funny that you should say that. The Masters Group is very small and friendly, but the pool was packed with very experienced swimmers doing their own thing. One guy was nice enough to share his lane while I warmed up and we chatted a bit, but WOW everyone else was very grumpy and unfriendly. I didn't know if it was because it was so early or what. I don't want to generalize... I know lots of swimmers that are nice as pie but maybe wearing goggles and not being able to hear leads to an unfriendly state of mind while actually swimming.

Keeping my fingers crossed that our group stays non-competitive and supportive like it is now.

Oh, honey.

When we 'strayans (native or naturalised) say "it's cold", we mean it's below 20C/68F.

After 4.5 years here, I have acclimatised to the point that 36C/97F no longer feels like Lucifer's farts, but 10C/50F is brass bloody monkeys.

Weirdly, I went back to the UK a couple of years ago around New Years, going from 42C/107F to -5C/23F, and didn't feel truly cold until the end of my three-week trip.

Are they Ghosts? Just breaking a pair in, they are very ethereal and wispy … boooo booooo :0)

LOL, Yep they are Ghost 5s, and the price tag was pretty scary. I have been running in Ghost 4s, but I couldn't find any in my size, so I guess I'm upgrading to the 5.

Has anybody seen a place to track him on the Ironman 70.3 Boulder site?  I'm looking and can't find it!

Edit:  Found it!  1.2 mile swim in 47:17, 56 mile bike in 3:00:19.

Looking great so far!!
