For the uninitiated, Tony Joe White was a blues rock singer songwriter that was putting out killer tracks like Polk Salad Annie DECADES before he got the attention and fame for his work that he deserved. From 1967-1970, he put out some incredible music on Monument Records but was met with little to no real widespread acclaim, especially in the US. Thanks to work with Tina Turner and some contemporary musicians like the Foo Fighters that shined their own spotlights on Tony Joe and his talents, he had a revival of sorts in the 90s and he had a pretty successful album drop in 1991 that really did reestablish him on the map. Unfortunately, as the story often goes, he passed away a few years ago with still nowhere near the widespread love he should have gotten while on this mortal coil. Light in the Attic and Run Out Groove put together Swamp Music, this compilation of his best works from the original CD box set and also included demos, alternates, and rare tracks, all of which are on vinyl here for the very first time.
