I splurged on Run Out Groove’s limited pressing of Secret Machines’ 2004 neo-prog classic, “Now Here Is Nowhere.” Got #1162 of 1625.

Got my hands on an early copy of The Vinyl Detective: The Run-Out Groove, the second in the amusing mystery series about a London record collector who finds rare LPs and dead bodies everywhere. It comes out May 9; hopefully I’ll have reviewed it for work by then and will post a link here too. The first book was a hoot, so we’ll see if this can live up to its predecessor.

For the uninitiated, Tony Joe White was a blues rock singer songwriter that was putting out killer tracks like Polk Salad Annie DECADES before he got the attention and fame for his work that he deserved. From 1967-1970, he put out some incredible music on Monument Records but was met with little to no real widespread acclaim, especially in the US. Thanks to work with Tina Turner and some contemporary musicians like the Foo Fighters that shined their own spotlights on Tony Joe and his talents, he had a revival of sorts in the 90s and he had a pretty successful album drop in 1991 that really did reestablish him on the map. Unfortunately, as the story often goes, he passed away a few years ago with still nowhere near the widespread love he should have gotten while on this mortal coil. Light in the Attic and Run Out Groove put together Swamp Music, this compilation of his best works from the original CD box set and also included demos, alternates, and rare tracks, all of which are on vinyl here for the very first time. If you're a lover of blues you will absolutely have fun with this one. Type O Negative To Release 25th Anniversary Vinyl Editon Of “Bloody Kisses”

Type O Negative have announced a collaboration with Roadrunner Records and Run Out Groove to release a 25th Anniversary reissue of their epic hit album Bloody Kisses. Released especially for Record Store Black Friday, it will be available to purchase at participating stores on 11/23/18. This title will not be available to pre-order or voted on at the Run Out Groove site. Links for more information below.

For the 25th anniversary, the record is being reissued as a stand-alone vinyl release in the U.S. for the first time and will be getting the deluxe treatment which includes an extra LP of bonus tracks making their debut on vinyl. The 3LP set will be pressed on 180g green and black swirl vinyl and come in a tri-fold direct to board Stoughton jacket.
