me paint person on horse!
love those horses. sadly, the text is so old people have a darn hard time understanding it today. but it was one good horsie on this rune stone at least.

a viking with a lil bit of an overinflated ego
the typical rune stone that talks about real people is a memorial stone over a dead loved one. and it is almost always clearly written out which relative/friend of the dead one paid for the rune stone.Â
fuck that! said Jarlabanke and ordered six rune stone to made about him while he was still alive. and instead about writing the typical message of hoping that the gods will take care of a dead loved ones soul, his stone is bragging about how rich he is.
so this is one of jarlebanke rune stones:
The text reads âJarlabanke lĂ€t resa dessa stenar efter sig, medan han levde, och han gjorde denna bro för sin sjĂ€l, och ensam Ă€gde han hela TĂ€by.â
which roughly translates to: âjarlebanke ordered this runes stones to be made. while he was still alive. and he built this bridge for his soul, cause he alone owned all of tĂ€byâ
*falls over giggling* this is wonderful. being humble? nah. jarlabanke says: âI OWN THIS REGION!! I MAKE SIX STONES!!â
also tÀby is still called that and is today a rich suburb to stockholm. so he litterally sounds like tÀbys first rich fuck boy tm. a iron age fuck boy

keeping text short
the people of the norse iron age had a writing language, but they were not good at preserving their more casual day to day writing (if such things existed, but most likely it did)
the result of this is that a rune stone with about 800 words on it is the longest text we have from the iron age in sweden. the norse iron age writers sure were good at keeping texts short!
the rune stone with the most text of all rune stones in sweden:
[Name Rökstenen. Sweden. Written about 800 AD. the runes on the stones are playfully written in such a manner that several different meanings can be read depending of how, and in which direction, you read the text. Basically a norse iron age word puzzle. Picture by by Bengt Olof à radsson via wikipedia]
WOLF FRIEND!!!
also a message about someone having build a bridge. but whatever. wolf!

you know what is nice? having jörmundgandr body has the borders for my writing!
