SHINOLA BIKE RIDE AND BRUNCH AT RUSCHMEYER’S HOSTED BY CAROLYN MURPHY

This past weekend, BFA hung out in Montauk for Shinola’s annual bike ride and brunch hosted by model and mom Carolyn Murphy.

Dedicated to the return of American manufacturing while holding artisanal craftsmanship to the highest standard, Shinola is a lifestyle brand specializing in watches, bicycles, and leather goods.

An intimate group of 30 were invited this past Sunday to cruise on the handmake bikes, topping off with a complimentary brunch at one of our favorite local hotels, Ruschmeyer’s.

Miansai x Ruschmeyer's Pop-Up Shop

You no longer need to be in the city to get your hand's on Miansai's hot ticket accessories -- the label has just teamed up with Ruschmeyer's to open a temporary pop-up shop in Montauk for the remainder of the summer. Housed in this fully renovated, custom-designed Airstream, the shop will carry a full selection of products from the Mainsai collection including special edition Shwood and Del Toro collaboration pieces.

Summer Camp :: For the Grown-Ups

Roasting marshmallows around the campfire. The smell of sunscreen. Picnic table lunches. Fingers sticky from popsicles. Sandcastles on the beach. Rounds of Marco Polo in the pool. Lemonade stands. Nature hikes and bike rides. Sizzling food on the grill. Summer nostalgia has descended in full force, leaving me craving an all-American summer getaway. Enter the 1950s-inspired, grown-up camp...

At Ruschmeyer's, a 20-room hotel located on several acres of wooded, lakeside property in Montauk, a mid-century nautical vibe is at work. Originally built as a summer camp in the 1950s, the rooms are bright and airy yet decidedly simple. The food and drink sound fit for an adult foodie's taste buds, and the grounds include hammocks, picnic tables, a fire pit and even a teepee.

At Camp Wandawega, cheerfully decorated cabins, tents and even a treehouse sit lakeside in the woods, transporting guests back 60 years. Think vintage Pendleton blankets, tartan sleeping bags, retro furnishings and a Tarzan rope swing. History is that the camp was originally a retreat for Latvian priests for decades until two creative directors at Ogilvy in Chicago restored the site and opened it to the public last year. 

Maybe it's because I never attended summer camp that I have such a strong urge to visit Ruschmeyer's or Camp Wandawega. But I'm guessing if I was a camp kid, I may want to pay a visit even more. Did you go to camp? Would you stay at one of these grown-up versions?

King and Grove Hotels.

Not sure about you, but when I saw the layout for these two hotels by King and Grove, I couldn't book a ticket fast enough, not to mention choosing between two equally alluring locations.
