Spinning 2112 for Rush Day 💜
Happy International Rush Day!
Today is International Rush Day or simply Rush Day. Rush is another part of the foundation of this group. The fans are passionate, but don't lose sight of that. We were graced with such musicianship and they crafted a legacy that is has influenced generations of musicians and songwriters. For well over 40-years, dare I say 50, they've given more than what we expected. 19 records, 162 songs, and hundreds or even thousands of shows that spanned many parts of the globe. They have given us memories and moments that will last a lifetime. Treasure that and don't take it for granted. In this time of Christmas, let's reflect on all things Rush and how thankful we are to have had them make as long as they did. With all that being said, celebrate with some wine or the Rush beer, that is if you’re in its distribution area, rum and eggnog, or whatever you partake in. Listen to Rush or watch a concert on DVD or wherever you watch them. Happy Rush Day!
Since it’s International Rush Day or simply Rush Day, here is a collage of Alex Lifeson. Alex was the only original member throughout the transformation and history of Rush. From his long hair to Flock of Seagulls to now. We've seen him not only grow as a musician, but as person. Just like his Rush compatriots and best friends, he also mastered his craft. His signature style and sound while mainly playing Gibson guitars is what set him apart. His "Freewill" solo is among his best with him doing, what is for him, a shreddy solo. But he didn't need to shred to be good at what he did. Even though he may not have always been front and center, he can be considered the backbone of Rush. A definite stalwart. With all that being said, celebrate with some wine, or Rush beer, that is if you’re in its distribution area. Listen to Rush or watch a concert on DVD or wherever you watch them. Happy Rush Day!
Since it’s International Rush Day or simply Rush Day, here is a collage of Neil Peart who people regard as "The Professor." His time in Rush spanned 44-years. He was selected as their next drummer and took on the role of lyricist. He crafted lyrics from a variety of sources including literature, world events, history, life, etc.. In some ways, there are those of us who strive to write lyrics the way he did, But don't let that stop you from writing the way you want. He was a well read and brilliant man who spoke with pose and eloquence. Even though we hold him in high regard, he always knew he could learn more and get better. In the '90s, he reinvented him by learning more in the jazz realm of drums. That was a genre he loved evident by have played on some big band albums and being influenced by Buddy Rich. He set out on his journey writing and biking. To see the places he saw on his travels would be incredible. He took the road less traveled and found places off the beaten path. He liked talking to people who had no idea who he was. He didn't like the frenzy of the spotlight. Totally respectable. He keep his circle of friends and acquaintances small. If you were able to get into his circle, you were blessed beyond measure. Upon his retirement and untimely death, he left a massive legacy and influence on past and present generations. With all that being said, celebrate with some wine, Macallan Whiskey (Neil's drink of choice), or Rush beer, that is if you’re in its distribution area. Listen to Rush or watch a concert on DVD or wherever you watch them. Happy Rush Day!
Since it’s International Rush Day or simply Rush Day, here is a collage of the man the Facebook group was the initial inspiration for. But it’s, of course, for all things Rush. Geddy Lee’s time with Rush spans over 50-years. He was the face of Rush in many ways. But we still love both Alex and Neil all the same. In a 2020 interview, Geddy told Rolling Stone: "Back in my day, nobody chose to be the bass player," Geddy Lee says. “You were always a guitarist, and somebody said, ‘Well, we need a bass player,’ so they had a vote and you became the bass player." With a laugh, the legendary Rush bassist adds, "That’s how I became a bass player: I was voted in. I think that was pretty common for the period, because everybody wanted to be Jimi Hendrix; everybody wanted to be Eric Clapton; everybody wanted to be Jimmy Page." He certainly mastered his craft and became one of the most revered bassists of all-time. Not only that, he became a historian of bass guitar and delved into vintage basses which culminated in Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass. With all that being said, celebrate with some wine or the Rush beer, that is if you’re in its distribution area. Listen to Rush or watch a concert on DVD or wherever you watch them. Happy Rush Day!
