a stutter coming from her lips as she listened to his words, stifling. why did it hurt so much? because she knows that he's the one for her, that's why. she didn't want to believe it, but god ---- maybe her dad's right. maybe they were meant to be entwined together. however, she doesn't know what to do, how to react, what to say. it feels like a nightmare, if anything. she doesn't look at him, nor does she even try to convince him to stay, but she wants to. her heart wants her to, it's like she's begging for jacob to stay. "you don't have to, you're choosing to. there's a difference," she replies, almost too simply; her voice trembling as she refuses to let any tears fall; instead, she can feel herself becoming heartless, truly. "why would you leave me?" she goes, this look of disappointment and hurt on her face, glancing at him as if he were a stranger she didn't know anymore.

            she   had   taken   a   bit   more   time   than   expected   ,      chatting   with   the   other   girls   and   taking   pictures   in   their   uniforms   .      it   was   the   first   football   game   of   the   season   and   everyone   was   overflowing   with   excitement   ;      by   the   time   she   was   making   her   way   back   to   the   bleachers   to   meet   jacob   everyone   had   dispersed   .      the   whole   stadium   was   silent   ,      all   that   was   left   was   the   flickering   of   the   stadium   lights   .      on   my   way   :)      she   shoots   him   a   text   ,      only   for   her   walking   to   be   halted   by   another   figure   ,      phone   dropping   to   the   turf   beneath   her   feet   .      ❝   sorry   -   ❞      she   began   ,      bending   down   to   grab   her   phone   before   her   arms   were   restrained   by   the   other   ,      straightening   her   back   up   .      ❝   stefanie   salvatore   .   ❞      her   name   from   their   lips   was   dripping   with   crimson   blood   ,      her   heart   pounding   against   her   ribcage   .      ❝   you   know   ,      that   little   cloaking   spell   your   aunt   bonnie   does   for   you   is   only   a   minor   setback   .      it's   only   a   matter   of   time   before   others   find   out   where   you   are   .   ❞      cold   fingers   are   tracing   her   jawline   .      ❝   you   should   feel   lucky   that   i   was   the   first   .      i’ll   make   it   quick   and   painless   after   i’m   done   with   you   .   ❞      stefanie   peers   upwards   ,      fear   hidden   by   disgust   in   her   eyes   .      ❝   i’d   be   careful   if   i   were   you   .      once   you’re   human   it’ll   be   easier   for   my   dad   to   rip   you   to   shreds   .   ❞

          « ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ˡᵒᵒᵏ ᵃᵗ ᵐᵉ ˡⁱᵏᵉ ᵗʰᵃᵗ, ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ. » tala practically BEGGED. she was unsure of the other’s motives and she was in no position to fight anyone. she’d gone through a particularly nasty forced change after encountering a group of drunk, angry men who were upset that she’d cut them off. so tala had run through the woods and had almost passed out from the speed at which she was encouraging her bones to CRACK and SHIFT. if they were going to fight her, she was going to fight back.

          and that’s what she’d done. 

          so she didn’t blame anyone for watching her closely as she stumbled out of the patch of trees with a limp, pulling at the dress she had on that was now torn from her body changing shape rapidly. but she’d used up all her energy attacking those absolute JERKS who came after her with a knife. she didn’t want to push herself. « ʲᵘˢᵗ ʷᵃˡᵏ ᵃʷᵃʸ, ⁱ'ᵐ ᶠⁱⁿᵉ. »

          all tala could do was hope and pray that the other didn’t find the trail of DESTROYED bodies only a few feet away from her.

                ❝ While I know you can't get sick, being out in the cold can't be good for you ❞ she stated softly, walking up behind the shifter. Esme couldn't help but to worry about people, even if those people would never get sick. It was the mother in her, reaching out to the child in everyone. ❝ Please come inside, Jacob. ❞ she pleaded, dark eyes shining under the weak sunlight. It was colder than usual, and Esme didn't know what had upset the alpha to force him to sit outside, but she didn't like to see him alone in the cold. 

                ❝ I'll make you something to eat, and then maybe we can talk about what's got you sitting here all alone, what do you think? ❞ Esme's voice was soft and pleading, she wanted to place a hand on his shoulder, but avoided it given that their body temperature was so different she doubted it would be comfortable for him to have a freezing cold hand touching him.

“ you’re uneasy, jacob. “ it’s always so easy to feel the emotions around him. sometimes, like when it’s his wife, it’s as if they are his own. but with the wolf, a stranger for these last few decades, it was as if they were swirling around the room in the air. his statement is a matter of fact. “ is something wrong ?? “ he wasn’t sure whether he wanted the other man to push him off or answer him. but he was not one for small talk. in his mind it had been a much easier life for his family without the wolf involved.
