Aesthetic views, coffee and reading. + A little life update.
Iāve been off Tumblr because Iāve been struggling a lot with my mental health. Iāve been really struggling with eating, and my depression has made a comeback, as well as drinking problems. Iām doing a decent job at sorting myself out: talking to people, seeing my doctor, going back on medication, making plans to have meals with people, but itās been really tough for me. And days/weeks like these, I just have to remember to lay low, take care of myself, make arrangements with tutors and hope that this passes. So last week I missed 2/3 essay deadlines, but I emailed my tutors and Iāve been able to catch up on one of the essays and not do the other essay (at least until the vacation). This week, Iāve missed my Shakespeare essay deadline, but again, I emailed my tutor and we agreed Iād submit an essay plan for now. Iāve also quit my job because I realised how much of a toll itās taking on my mental health and my studies. It was probably one of the hardest decisions to make, and Iām really proud of myself for the way Iām going about things this term. Anyway, at the moment Iām Reading āConfessions of a Justified Sinnerā (essay due Wednesday) in a really cute top-floor tea room in Blackwells. Only have one class today at 2, so hoping to get quite a bit of reading done.
Moral of this story: take care of yourself first kids!

05.03.2017 || So itās been awhile. Having a medical condition that has deteriorated whilst being at Oxford has been challenging to say the least. And it won for a little bit, so I had to rusticate. The fancy Oxford word for leaving for a bit, suspending/intermitting or whatever its called elsewhere. Its one of those big taboos at Oxbridge that donāt get talked about, even though its incredible common, especially amongst disabled students. I personally donāt know another disabled student who has actively involved themselves in the community or in campaigning that hasn't had to rusticate. The support is not there, and that is deeply saddening. But either way, I am back. And I have about 90 days left and a second chance to complete my degree once and for all. So this tumblr is going to see some action again! Iām going to try to do something along the lines of 100 days of productivity, which will basically be until I finish my Finals, hopefully this time. So wish me luck and heres to intense studying and beating this place!
Day 8,9, 10, and 11 of productivity. I had work all weekend, so no study got done. On Monday it was Russian Christmas, but I did manage to get a few organisational things done. Iām on the committee for SusCam, and weāve got quite a busy term ahead of us, so Iām trying to look at a way to centralise our tasks and documents. Thinking to o with Monday.com (app and site), Iāve been playing around with it and it looks good.
Right now Iām on the Oxford Tube, en route to see some friends in London (an hour late...) Doing some essay work on the bus, because I realised I move into college.... *drumroll please* TOMORROW!!! So 0th week has started yesterday and I had no idea. I thought it was the week after. Iām in a massive panic, because I still need to finish packing and my essay is due in on Friday aaahhh! Iāve jut started writing it. I also have people coming to stay with me tonight, so I have to spend some of tomorrow hanging out with them. Iām thinking Iām gonna move into college (luckily I emailed accomadation and asked if I could move in a day early) tomorrow morning, study for a bit (find critical material and all that), have my therapy appointment, then hang out with my mates in the afternoon for a bit and sleep in college. That gives the girls some more room, and gives me time to study. And then I bang the essay out on Thursday, work on it all day (until 9, I have work then).
Iām stress central today. STAY ON TOP OF IT KIDS, CHECK YO TERM DATES!!!
Days 15/16 of productivity.
On Saturday I had work. It was a crazily busy shift, and I felt overwhelmed and tearful all day. I didnāt do much studying, but I managed to pick up my bike from home and catch up with my friend, and after I got back to uni I just sat in my room, had a few drinks, played guitar and generally relaxed. (The photo is literally just me playing dress up - I have no life lol, but the outfit is banging in my opinion).
On Sunday, I had work as well.. after work though I managed to talk myself into doing some reading by taking myself out for an espresso martini at my local pub #adulting.
Day 5/100 of productivity. Today I packed for uni. Most my books are in boxes, as well as kitchen stuff and some clothes. I move out on the 17th of January, so Iām well ahead of time, but Iām just so excited to come back after a year-long suspension (Iāve had to intermit due to mental health reasons last year, but Iām feeling better and ready for uni again).
Ft my cat looking grumpy.
Bonus - a quick study session before work at Leon. Finishing āEvelinaā by Frances Burney - honestly, itās a bit of a bore (the whole innocent girl coming into the cruel and corrupt 18th entity society as eventually finding love trope is a bit old tbh) and have been stuck on the last 30 pages for over a week now, but it has to be done - the essay is due in on Friday 18th of January, which gives me just over 2 weeks to do it.
Also, check out my ootd ft cool jacket TM and avocado socks.
