The River Wraith
Although not officially part of the warrior code, there are two “rules” that the clans mutually agree upon (especially Thunderclan and Riverclan), both of which sprung from the same event years ago:
Don’t have kits with a cat from another clan.
Don’t go near the river at night.
The first rule came to be a few moons after the incident in which a Thunderclan queen slaughtered three cats in cold blood after her half-clan kits drowned in the very same river bordering Thunderclan and Riverclan. She met her end with her final victim, her former mate from Riverclan, as they both sunk to the bottom of the river and drowned.
The second came a few moons later, when cats - especially kits - started to wander off from camp towards the river and never come back.
There have been a few reports of cats going to the river at night and, upon gazing into the water, their reflection is replaced with the face of an orange, black, and white cat with soggy fur and pitch black eyes. Upon getting too close to this cat in the water, she will grab her victim by the throat and drag them under, never to resurface.
Kits are most common to try and sneak out of camp to visit the border at night, and when asked why, they only respond with “I felt like I had to.”
Mapleshade was a cat infamously known by all the clans, though over time she was simply called “The River Wraith”.
Only one cat had ever been pulled in and managed to be rescued in time: a small brown tomkit from Riverclan. Although, the incident left him with a permanently twisted jaw.
