but have never read the book PLEASE GO READ THE BOOK. the book tells so much more of these amazing, lovable characters (even the more minor ones from the movie!) and goes so much more in depth about the relationships between idgie and ruth as well as evelyn and ninny. plus it clearly answers the question of whether or not ninny is really idgie. it is just SO good!!! go read it right now!!

You’re kidding right? You see the way they look at each other?? And Idgie’s note at the end?? How disappointed Idgie was when Ruth said she was getting married?? Idgie’s face when Ruth kisses her cheek??? Those two are queerer than a three dollar bill, even the movie, and no one can tell me otherwise just because the filmmakers didn’t make it explicitly known. It was 1991 for christ sake it was a pretty gay movie for the time I think

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES FOR GODS FUCKING SAKE

I cannott fucking tell you how fucking pumped i am about this movie. I know this is some old shit and it’s been around for however long but I have just experience the majesty which is this work of art on Netflix and am now fully intent on reading the book as well.

This fucking movie man, just this fucking movie. I know it was more of a cheap scam to pull all the fucking tricks to jerk a tear or two with all the things that happen to the characters but I just have to fucking say that I am in love with this fucking movie.

I need more lesbian love storys in my life and I am prepared to fucking fight you on the fact that they were fucking lovers and not just platonic besties, though if you’re leaning towards them being besties because their relationship transcended any other term, like it was just that deep, like it’s hard to explain but you know what i’m talking about, like they were moirails and shit but normal people don’t use that shit so they say super best friends, that’s aight.

BUT IF YOU FUCKING SAY THEY WERE 100% PLATONIC BECAUSE YOU’RE HOMOPHOBIC THEN I WILL FUCKING FIND YOU AND KILL YOU AND TURN YOUR BODY INTO BARBECUE TO HIDE THE EVIDENCE.

Now, I’d just like to fucking say, I love this movie and I am overly excited to read the book as well. 

Now, on a  side note, in the movie it heavily implies that Ninny and Idgie are the same person which I just can’t, just no. Like, just, pls don’t force that kind of weird on me this late in the night.

Now with Ninny and Idgie being the same person that would mean that Idgie had a crush on her older brother, Ninny said this, and married her own brother, Cleo. Though her marrying her own brother would be backed up by the fact that her apparent son Albert was under developed and as we all know, incest causes just that.

It would also mean that after Ruth died Idgie actually married a man. In the movie it is fairly obvious that Idgie is a lesbian and does not like to be touched by men, this is whay I got at least. 

So her marrying a man, especially after Ruth, who was implied to be the love of her life died, I just don’t see that happening. I see her going on and raising Buddy, but not marrying anyone.

Also, another thing that wasn’t really covered in the movie was the age difference between Ruth and Idgie. Like Ruth looked around 14 or something when she first met Idgie and Idgie looked like, what, 7 or 8. To me at least.

Even then Idgie was putting the moves on Ruth tho, lol. I’m just rlly confused as to how much younger was Idgie. 

I’d also really like to know the relationship between Idgie and Stub. Like would he call her aunt or just Idgie or would he call her mom because she sure fucking acted like a mom to him. I think Idgie liked to think of herself as his mom. Like, did you fucking see how excited she was when Ruth gave birth to him. She acted like a proud fucking dad. 

I just love historical lesbians.
