          That  HURT more  than  it should’ve.  Maybe  because  it  had  a  little  bit  of  truth sprinkled  in  it.  She  knew  it  wasn’t  an  innocent  question,  it  was  a  jab  at  her.  But  she  had  changed  ( or  so  she hoped ) this  time  alone,  and  she  wouldn’t  fall  for  it  this  time.  Five  was  important  to  her,  as  well  as  the  rest  of  the  siblings,  and  she  didn’t  want  to  fight  anymore.  It  was  hard  enough  to  fight  the END  of  the  world.          “  I  don’t  have  a reputation anymore.  So  it  doesn’t  matter,  I’ll  just  save  their  lives  as  I  should. ” that’s  what  I  was  trained  for is  what  got  caught  in  her  tongue.

Five wasn’t completely convinced of the sincerity behind her words. But he had noticed how Allison had changed since the last time he’d seen her. It wasn’t as drastic or apparent as when he had first appeared to proclaim the end of the world but it showed itself in more subtle ways. In how she spoke, in how she carried herself.

He’d last seen her less than a week ago. But for her, it had clearly been much longer. ( A concept Five was not unfamiliar with. )

“ Good . “ He says. Before, he hadn’t cared about their involvement. He’d convinced himself that it was better to do it all by himself, protect them without them realizing. But now he knows he had been wrong to push them away.

“ I believe you . “ A pause. “ How long has it been ? “

        He holds it with the delicacy of a newborn child, those eyes that   glimmered   aqua, and in certain lights -- indigo;   cherished   the gift he’s given. HE REALLY DIDN’T WANT TO START AN ARGUMENT, but of course his siblings had had enough of his secrets and attitude, and he could hardly blame them. This time around, Five was trying to be more open but that came with time; time to allow his siblings back in, time to allow himself to ask for help and accept it, and time to open up about what he had done. Some things were just not important to discuss right now, not with Doomsday hanging over their head. Hands shoved into pockets, he hung his head, listening to her words of frustration in silence.

A few seconds passed before he finally broke the silence, gaze still lowered. ❝ I’m not fine. The list is too long. I don’t know. ❞ He answered in order of the points she had brought up, a small scoff leaving his lips. ❝ I don’t have the time or the luxury to sit down and tell you everything I’ve done because I need to figure out a way to get us all home again. ❞ And prevent your deaths, again, he leaves unspoken. His tone isn’t patronising or annoyed as it usually is, a softer hint to it, patient. ❝ And I think if I told you, you’d look at me differently. I’m not proud of the things I’ve done but I did it to get back to you. To all of you. And I’d do it again if I had to. ❞

  “there’s instructions??” there’s genuine surprise hidden somewhere behind the dopey grin he has up as klaus pretends like he hadn’t just broken their coffee machine. in all honesty, it’s not like he hadn’t used it before, he’s probably just forgotten an extra step to take or something along those lines. ignoring the dire consequences that came with, a leaking coffee machine which made all kinds of noises and none of the coffee and --- is that smoke? entirely possible. 

  “i thought how to make coffee’s kind of an ... universal thing, dear sis.” and yet one klaus ultimately failed at. “don’t tell five, he’ll have my head on a stick for this. or he’ll make me pay for a new one and we both know i’m shit at saving up.”

AND YET HE STILL SEEMED TO MAKE THEM OVER AND OVER, and destruction always followed him, from the Commission to Doomsday. All he had wanted to do was get his family someplace safe, a risky last minute plan that could possibly give them a chance to fix their mistake and he had messed it up yet again. Been too ambitious, scattered them throughout time and now they raced against the clock to prevent nukes. A sigh left him, staring into his coffee like it had all the answers to his problems; it didn’t. 

❝ And somehow I keep messing it up. ❞ Words were quiet, a frown on his brow. ❝ Dad was right, I bit off more than I could chew, jumped too far in time and now... now we’re stranded. ❞ There was an option left but it wasn’t one he was looking forward to doing.
