⇢ Tiresome. The world had grown heavy long ago, and all that NIX had known was engulfed in the haze that went with it. Simplicity was gone, and nothing remained as it seemed. They’d been let down, lied to, BETRAYED too many times, and they were done just watching it happen.
Not when it always ended in such bloodshed.
⇢ ❝ Were you expecting me to be honest? ❞ Foggy eyes rose to gaze upon the man from under heavy eyelashes, a silent study of his being, and a constant attempt to gauge exactly where he stood. This was just the type of person NIX hated having to know ; the type that would so obviously flip alliances at any given moment. They didn’t trust him as far as they could spit, but hell, it was better to keep him close than to cut him free.
⇢ They moved out from around the café bar, a fluid motion with knowingly mesmerizing hips rocking beneath each step, a game they’d played a thousand times before, and one they’d surely play again. They lost the structure separating them, the symbolic hierarchy of standing behind the counter, and turned to him now with equal footing. A sly smile spread across their lips, eyes still lidded in a tired, relaxed way. It was obvious there was no concern here.
⇢ ❝ Surely you couldn’t have expected me to tell you everything, not when I know you’re holding so many secrets as well. ❞ The grin spread wider, a sick, almost egregiously amused look. ❝ So tell me, what exactly is your organization planning here? They’re not locking into my district, are they? ❞
Hyeok is well aware of the chaos going around. Self-proclaimed villains scurrying the streets to fight against those believed to be heroes.
This district is another story.
The fear of demons, or so they are called by the public runs high. Creatures that eat humans, though he has been spared the details. Hyeok isn’t aware of how frequently they need to eat. How much it needs to be and if at all it were possible to drink blood instead.
“Well now, you’ve known me long enough.” His voice drums in the small coffee shop, a note you just can’t miss. A sickly grin sits heavy on his lips when their eyes meet. Ah, such a pretty face. Such sweet lips. She speaks of trust and his mind sits elsewhere. There is a level of calmness they bring sweeping around the corner edge of the bar to meet at a equal place. Surely not the first time, nor the last. Not a smidge of concern on that pretty face!
Hyeok uses a leg to kick the seat beside him toward the shop owner, a subtle way of offering them a seat. “Speak up then. What do you want to know from me? I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” That disgusting grin again shows, “Of course not! Come now, Nix. You know we have no issues with your little ... organization here. In fact, if anything we could make a great team.”
