Christmas came early, as usual.
Every time I buy new equipment I always tell myself its an "early christmas" present to myself, even if its in January.
I got new toys. One was accidental.
Decided to beefen up my kit for the upcoming year. Picked up an rx100, bought a new lens, and ordered a new case to put all my goodies in.
I should stop this habit, but I decided to cruise craigslist and stumbled upon a Sony RX100 mark 5 for $650!! Managed to drop the price down to 600 and sealed the deal. Ive been in the market for an “every day carry” type of camera as it became be a pain in the buttox to lug my dlsr everywhere. I love this thing, 24-70 f1.8-2.8 and fits in my front pocket?? Is this real life?? Shoots 4k?? Shoots freakin' 240 frames per second?? Zeiss optics?? Diangelo is the name, #Zeissordie is the game. I've been watching this camera for a solid year now and prices are still high; which is a great sign for resell purposes. I love everything from the pop up electronic viewfinder, to the built in flash, and a rediculous flip up screen for selfies. Picture quality lacks in low light situations, but as small as the camera is you can't really complain. All of the features packed into the camera make up for it.
I copped the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 as a workhorse. Rockin the a7iii I often forget how spoiled I am to have touch-af and a reliable super accurate autofocus system to begin with. Super excited to make some dope shit with this lens. I've been rockin the zeiss 35mm f2.8 for a few years now and I am extremely tired of it. (Its still a great lens) So I copped a reliable zoom for my serious gigs. E mount glass is dummy expensive, so the $800 price tag won't break the bank TOO much. Vintage glass is still great, just hard with the lack of AF sometimes when it boils down to the more serious shoots. I can't wait to reveal some test footage!
At the end of the day, the best camera you have is the one that's with you. As the equipment may help lots, never forget the core value of why you picked up the camera in the first place!! (But it still is fun to cop some nice equipment every once and a while; you work hard so you gotta treat yourself!) The case is still on its way, and I'd like to showcase some work created with these toys, so an update is to come. :-)
