Ryan Mountain, California
August 7th, 2019
Ryan Mountain, Lost Horse Mine, Joshua Tree National Park, California, USA
We hiked a total of 5 km (roughly 3 miles) with an elevation gain of 325 m (1066 feet) to reach the top of the Ryan Mountain and 11 km (6.8 miles) with an elevation gain of 180 m (590 feet) to complete the loop of the Lost Horse Mine trail. The Ryan Mountain offers an impressive panoramic view of the Joshua Tree National Park with its jumble of rock formations and unique “trees”. The Lost Horse Mine trail, instead, is an easy loop to look at an abandoned mine “which produced more than 10,000 ounces of gold and 16,000 ounces of silver (worth approximately $5 million today) between 1894 and 1931″. The desert around is magnificent!
