Dying In Your Arms Is Better Than Living In Someone Else's || Part 2
When August woke up, she was in a dark, dry room. There was barely any moisture and her lips were dry and cracked. Her arms were tied above her head and her feet dangled off the floor. A single light hung from the ceiling to show Ryan hanging unconsciously on the other side of the small room. "R-Ryan?" she croaked, desperation and fear flowing through the bond. "Ryan!" After a second, a groan left Ryan’s lips and he looked up at her. "B-Bambi?" he whispered hoarsely. "It’s okay. I’ll get you out of here. I promise," he said as he started looking around for a way to get free. Then, the door opened, and Marilyn and Roger stepped in, each carrying a tray of surgical tools. "Let’s have a little fun, shall we?" Marilyn hissed.

"Ryan..." August whispered weakly as she watched him from across the room. His head was lowered and his breath came in shallow, slow pants. August could see the life flickering out of not only his body, but his aura. "Ryan.. I'm so sorry," she sobbed, wincing in pain as she tried in vain to free herself from her bindings. The two young Moroi had spent the past hour trying to block out the others cries of pain, while the cruel creatures known as August's parents attacked them without mercy. At the sound of August's cries, Ryan lifted his heavy head and gave her a weak smile, licking his dry lips before he tried to speak. "It's going to be okay Bambi," he croaked. "You're going to make it out and you're going to go on and do great things in the world.. you don't have to be what anyone tries to force you to be.. because you are perfect, just by being you.. and I know- that sometimes the world can be harsh.. b-but you'll be okay. You're the strongest woman I know, my love.. and you're only going to get stronger from here.." August bit her lip as the tears rolled down her cheeks and she tried not to cry loudly, keeping her sniffled as low as possible. "I..It's not f-fair. You c-c-an't leave me.. I need you.. I love you.." she whispered. Ryan smiled softly. "I love you too," he murmured. Before either one could say anymore, the door burst open again, and the two Strigoi re-entered. August glared at them as the stalked closer to her boyfriend and lifted his chin. "Well wasn't that.. pathetic," Marilyn hissed, pouting her lips as she squeezed Ryan's cheeks. "Get away from him," August hissed. "Why would we want to do that sweetheart?" Marilyn asked with an amused but cold laugh. "Just let him go. It's me you want anyway," August pleaded. "August, darling. Your voice is so grating. Now be a good little girl and shut up and listen to what we have to say," Roger said casually, waving his hand as he walked towards her. "Now, this is a once in a life time offer," Roger smirked. "And it's completely your choice," he added. "Oh just get on with it Roger!" Marilyn snapped, growing impatient. Roger chuckled darkly, tipping his daughters chin up and looking her in the eyes. "You have a choice.." he repeated. "Do we kill your poor, sweet, little bondmate, or do we turn him. Giving you a second in command for when we turn you? Keep in mind Strigoi can be very unpredictable and who knows what he might turn into." August narrowed her eyes and looked towards Ryan, who was struggling against Marilyn's grip. "Don't do it Bambi. Let them kill me. I don't care." "Why the sudden change of heart?" August asked Roger slowly. "It was a change of mind actually," Roger replied nonchalantly. "After seeing the little stunts you two pulled off we figured he could be useful. Especially seeing as he's survived this long. So what will it be baby girl? Does he live.. or die?" August paused for a long while, ignoring Ryan's protests as she tried to think of what to do, but before she could answer, the door opened again, and a blonde Moroi stepped in. "Em," Ryan sighed with relief as he recognised his sister, but before Emily Preston could get either of the Moroi out, Roger knocked August unconscious while Marilyn sunk her fangs into Ryan's neck. Emily let out an angered cry as she threw her hands up in the air, watching both Strigoi scream in anguish before they ran towards each other and pulled each other apart. Emily ran over to her little brother and freed him from the ropes, pulling him close as she sunk to the floor. "You need to get her away from me.." Ryan whispered, a frown set on his face as he writhed in pain. "I'm not killing you. We'll change you back. We can do it.. you won't be a monster forever," Emily promised, stroking the hair off his face. "I k-now.. j-just.. make her think I'm d-dead.. at least for now.. otherwise she'll.. she'll come after me, a-and I can't hurt her.." he said, his voice cracking as he spoke. Emily nodded, the tears rolling down her cheeks as she kissed his forehead and laid him down gently. "I'll keep her safe.. and I'll see you soon.." she whispered before she got up and walked over to August, setting her free and carrying her unconscious body out. She pushed images into the young Spirit users mind, images of Ryan dying.. just to make sure she believed he was dead. And with that, the blonde Moroi walked away from her little brother while the change took over his body. "We'll meet again soon..." she murmured before disappearing into the night.
