Missy: It’s how I remember it
(Y/n): Yeah, cuz you’re demented
Missy: Oh, so you think I’m pretty and demented?
----

Foolproof
Pairing: Ryan Sinclair x Reader

I love the pick up line idea! I would love for Jack to participate in dealing lines, although I would normally doubt he'd propose bad ones. I would especially like for Jack to give Ryan lines to say to the reader, as I love their dynamic and we haven't had Ryan x Reader yet, I think? Maybe something like "I've consulted the Doctor's sonic/the Tardis' scanner and it says I am made out of boyfriend material." or "I must be in a museum because you're a work of art." or something else that's cheesy
This was meant to be one little drabble from the pick-up line pile. But you’re a genius, anon, and you’re right, I’ve never done a Ryan x Reader, so it’s like a full thing 💜
Warning: Brief covid mention, just as a Watch Out for 2020 reference
“You know, when you said you’d be back when the Doctor needs you most,” Ryan said, as he hit the pause button on a comically outdated boombox. Britney Spears’ ‘Circus’ halted mid-chorus. “Wasn’t picturing this.”
Jack Harkness—Captain Jack Harkness—glanced up at him, lifting his sunglasses. Ryan had no idea how he could see with them on; for all the light pulsating off the rocky orange pillars, the console room was still a bit dim. Jack wiggled his sheet of aluminum foil that he was using as a reflector. With a charming grin, he replied, “My tan lines were life-threatening, if that helps. Want to pull up a chair?”
Ryan snorted. Hands in his pockets, he watched the Doctor’s old friend stretch out on the lounge chair he’d dragged in. It was a screaming shade of teal and spotted with flamingos in sunglasses. “Nah, I’m good.”
Jack shrugged and slid the glasses back up his nose. “Suit yourself. Thought we could have some quality bonding time.”
“Bonding?”
“Yep,” Jack popped the ‘p.’ “I’ve been here a week, Sinclair, and we haven’t had a single life-changing field trip or meaningful encounter together.”
Ryan half-grinned. “Honestly, I think you’re a bit annoying, mate.”
“See, that’s what I like about you,” Jack grinned genuinely, pleased as punch. “Always so honest.”
“And I might rather bond when you’re wearing a shirt.”
Jack flexed his pecks. “If you don’t like the view—and we can’t all have good taste—you could always turn my mixtape back on and give Daddy some private time.”
“Can’t,” Ryan replied, his nose crinkling at ‘Daddy’—the Doctor’s old pals were sometimes eccentric enough to make her seem normal. “I’m waiting on someone.”
Ryan ignored Jack’s eyebrows, which threatened to wiggle right off his forehead. “Hot date?”
Ryan shrugged. His foot began tapping against the TARDIS floor.
Part One, Requested by anon
Okay, you could do this. There wasn’t anything to it. Just need to...actually say it. And manage to tear him away from everyone long for you to to say it. Two steps. Two very big steps, but you could do it.
“Nope - nope, can’t do it!” you muttered to yourself, pinching the bridge of your nose. You were psyching yourself up and there was absolutely no need for it, but that’s what nerves were for, right? Nerves and anxiety.
“Everything all right?” you jumped at the sound of Ryan’s voice from behind you. He placed a hand on your shoulder, brows furrowed in concern. Damn it, this was not helping you at the moment!
“Uh, yeah. I’m fine...I think,” you muttered the last bit, glancing down and tugging at the sleeves of your jacket.
“You sure? You know you can talk to me if you need to, right?” He could see right through you. You chewed the inside of your cheek, mulling the consequences over in your head but after a moment, you decided it was time to get it out into the universe.
“I like you,” you blurted out, eyes going wide as soon as you said it. You hadn’t meant to say it like that. “I mean, I like you - a lot - and definitely as more than a friend, and I understand if you don’t feel the same way, I was just talking with the Doctor and she said I should go for it and I kind of didn’t want to tell you but I just had to get it out in the open and -,”
“(Y/N),” he interrupted, and you snapped your mouth shut, glancing down, “I like you, too. Glad you said something before granddad tried to.”
“Wait, what?” You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Ryan liked you back?
“Yeah, I wanted to tell you, I just didn’t know if you liked me back or anything. Gramps said he was gonna do it for me if I didn’t do it first, so really glad you beat both of us to it.”
“Oh,” you said quietly, cheeks heating up the slightest as you realized he had been in the same predicament as you. “So...what now?”
“We could start with a date. Would probably be nice to just sit and talk with each other instead of running for our lives for once.” You laughed, nodding and giving him a smile.
“I’d love that.”
