ViewMaster by Ryan Van Winkle & Dan Gorman Ryan Van Winkle is Poet in Residence at Edinburgh City Libraries following a successful run as the Scottish Poetry Library’s first-ever Reader in Residence. He has interviewed hundreds of poets for the Scottish Poetry Library’s poetry podcast and has been commissioned by the Prairie Schooner to turn the best of these transcripts into pieces for their online magazine. Van Winkle has been invited to read internationally including at The Wordstorm Festival in Darwin, The Edinburgh International Book Festival, The London Literature Festival and Shakespeare & Co. in Paris. As Literature Co-Ordinator for Reel Festivals he has performed and hosted at the Erbil Literature Festival in Iraq, brought Syrian and Iraqi poets together with their UK contemporaries for translation workshops and performances throughout the UK and abroad. His critically praised first collection, Tomorrow, We Will Live Here, was published by Salt in 2010 and won the Crashaw Prize. His poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, AGNI, Poetry New Zealand, Gutter, Poetry Scotland, New Writing Scotland, The Guardian, Scotland on Sunday, Northwords Now, and a feature in Carcanet’s 2010 Oxford Anthology of New Poets. He was awarded a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship in 2012. Ryan Van Winkle (USA) is an award winning poet, performer, podcaster critic and Poet in Residence at Edinburgh City Libraries. His poetry/theatre experiment 'Red, Like Our Room Used to Feel' was rated one of the top ten shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012. That same year he was awarded the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship allowing him to work on his second collection while in residency in France. His first collection, 'Tomorrow, We Will Live Here' was published by Salt in 2010. World Voices Presents Ryan Van Winkle

Ryan Van Winkle is an American poet who resides in Edinburgh, Scotland. His incredibly personal and intimate poetry-theatre experiment Red, Like Our Room Used to Feel, which has been showcased at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe amongst other places, has been known to captivate even those who shun poetry.

Join us as he reads from his poetry, and presents a treat in the form of his ViewMaster. Ryan’s ViewMaster is a personal slide-show performance that is at times surprising and surreal, and offers viewers a chance to travel through scenes with your eyes and ears.

This session will be moderated by Alvin Pang, a noted and award winning poet.
